In my several years of gardening experience I always wondered, what works best for the growth of plant, with desired results and Jeevamrutha has been the most effective fertilizer that needs very minimum cost and effort. This flower was the biggest of this year, in fact biggest flower of my entire gardening experience, and it was possible only because of Jeevamrutha, a natural organic fertilizer that was being used for centuries, before the chemical gang took over.
I have kept two buckets reserved to prepare the Jeevamrutha, and even though many times it failed, this year, it grew nicely. And the fun fact is that, I have chosen this place because we have so many kids in our society, some of them are continuously in hunt of exploring stuffs around. This place is full of abandoned cycles - I only brought all of them and kept here, to have some space to park our two-wheeler. So the kids don't like this place and don't come here, otherwise you know what stupid kids will do !!
And the raw materials - fresh cow dung , urine, jaggery and flour - mix the cow dung in water thoroughly and then mix the jaggery and flour (besan), separately, 100 - 150 gm each in water and add to the manure. Then add the cow urine and water until the bucket gets filled, leaving some space, gently stir them using a stick ( yes, I have the full set up), and cover and keep in a cool place. And based on how first it ferments, we need to go and stir them once or twice.
Day 2 ( 36 hours) the fermentation was still going on.
And after 48 hours, I observed the fermentation is getting weak, so I removed the upper cake and took it to the garden.
Two buckets of Jeevamrutha served our entire garden ( mine as well as all plants of society) as 7-10 times water was added to dilute them, before giving it to plants. If you give it directly, it will burn the plants.
And you will see the magic result within a week - this year, a dying plant survived after I applied this and growing nicely. I wished later, I should have captured a photograph prior to show you. Thankfully, I don't need to go anywhere to get the cow manure and urine - the guy who supplies milk at home does me the favor of bringing them - I just need to make sure, jaggery and flour is available at home and of course my time, because the manure need to be fresh and used asap so that those microbes / bacteria are alive to grow. Another important observation from several failures is that, the cow must be eating green grass for better results. That's the reason, I don't try it in summer, because, they are fed dry grass, that these people preserve from harvests in Winter. And lastly, some people feel its a prestige issue doing all these - but does a gardener get embarrassed ?
