Bad news everywhere
This is the fourth time the nature has given us a setback. I thought, we will be be soon seeing some good results and Cyclone Jawad would be the last bad weather in winter. But I was proved wrong this morning. It was all fine till 9 am, by which I came back from the ground after spending a lovely hour and half in playing football ( Yes, I am back again with full preparation, will post about it). At around 11 am, when I thought, I would go and get some apple berries, it started raining again with some clouds showing signs of further raining. Once you think of eating something, its hard to resist, so I still went and got some apple berries.
See the colors - they are tempting. There are a lot inside, but I did not go inside, because the roofing sheets felt like slippery. AS soon as I got these, our cook asked and grabbed couple of them and was asking why I did not bring more !!
See the front-yard of my house ? It's all cloudy. Only yesterday, I had sprayed some poisons again and I confirmed with my mother that there were no news about any bad weather. Looks like the met department does not even bother any more. It feels like this year, Nature is in full revenge mode. There is no update on how long this will go on, seems another low pressure situation, without any warning, but I don't see it stopping at least before couple of days. Apart from my trees, what worries me more is that, My mother just recovered from a critical state - she has asthma since last 30 years. She has survived from Pneumonia twice, and given that she is 71, she becomes more weak taking these higher antibiotics. The bad weather just makes me sleepless being watchful even in the night.
I wish, I had given the new bamboos I cut as support which is lying there. The tree has now inclined a bit with the wet soil may be. May be tomorrow, I will give these new support - these curry bananas would serve for many days.
We have couple of chikoo fruits tree ( Manilkara zapota), every year, we used to get a lot of them - all chemical free. This year there are barely few fruits on them. And there are few Bael ( Golden apple ) seen - seems they will grow big by March - by when they ripen.
Some gorgeous red chilies - Mom does not eat the, but plants because she likes to see them - helps the people on rent 😀
Nice curry leaves - we get them whenever we want - fresh from the garden with so much of aroma that, you will notice being in any room of the house.
We had lot of wood logs lying since the last big Cyclone Fani. As I posted sometimes back, when I was a child , I planted these trees. So we did not want to sell the logs and got them cut by hand sawing recently. I will post about it later ,but I have managed to gather the bad logs and small pieces to be used for cooking. Lot of work there for one person.
The carambola seems to be coming up all year - there are a lot of them, but they are such highs that, we just leave them for the birds.
And do you know about this Biriyani tree (Vanilla grass) ? We use it in pulaos and biryanis, and remove before serving , giving some nice fragrance.
Overall, things are really bad. I got a call from my apartment today, to remove all the plants from the roof top - some people have started complaining about them saying it could damage the roof. Still not thought, how I would do that. The whatsapp group for organic vegetables shared some pics which is heartbreaking.
I just made a collage of all of them, being compressed but this is the reality of farmer's life and livelihood, after all the hard work - very painful.
