During my last visit to my native, we went to a rural village in search of a person, who would come and take care of setting up our backward and start some gardening activities. He is in high demand and we had to inform him earlier, however, the plot of this story starts from the military canteen that we saw while coming back.
So there is a reserve battalion set up in that rural area and they have opened a canteen which provides subsidized food to the locals. It's a kind of charitable activity to please the locals, as they have taken huge lands in the vicinity and also they need to keep good relationship with the villagers.
So my friend recommended we try out the breakfast as it's not only cheap but also very tasty because they maintain good quality too. When we entered the place, there were not many people and the stock was full. All the plates in the first image were having full stock, and I thought to pack something for my parents - especially they love idly. So I thought, let's first eat and then pack, but suddenly there were a lot of crowd and there was a twist.
By the time, we finished food, all stocks were gone - these people purchased everything in big quantities and took them away.
I was surprised and asked the staffs why they were buying in such big quantities ? What are they doing with that ? The answer surprised me - they buy from here and sell it outside with profit, OMG....The price is pretty cheap in the canteen and they take advantage of that, instead of preparing them in their shop, they buy from here and sell in their shop to earn some quick money, without doing much effort. For example, each idly sells at 3 rupees here and they sell it at 5 rupees - huge profit straightaway without doing much hard work and just buying from here.
But then if you know that, why are you selling them in bulk ? Because our authority have not provided any order to stop selling like this - for them, this is ok.
So we collected their contact numbers and they said, to call them in the morning and they will keep for us - better luck next time...The village ambience was so charming that, we are going back definitely, I will share some beautiful photos of the area in anther post.
