Perhaps when you read the title of this post, you ask yourself: But is there a difference between loyalty and fidelity?
That's right, there are some differences between fidelity and loyalty, which is why it is important not to confuse these two terms, because if so then we would be deviating our actions and habits of life.
Although it is very common to see how most people use these two words as synonyms, the reality is that they have different meanings, they may have certain similarities, but when we study their meanings we realize that there are circumstances in which we must act with fidelity, and others under which we must act with loyalty.
The word loyalty may seem to us to have something to do with law, if we think yes we are not very far from reality, and that the origins of this word have a character of moral origin.
When we want to act with loyalty we must plan our behavior in tune with some values of correctness and support complying as I said a set of rules. Loyalty is attached to our principles and beliefs, also with our personality, we are loyal to what we believe in and we will defend it at all costs as long as we keep those values alive, it is impossible to be loyal to something we do not believe in.
Loyalty is something intrinsic, we carry it inside, it is a quality, we do not need to be attached to any ideal to be faithful, we simply are or are not faithful, which is why we could have a moral connotation as well as loyalty. With loyalty we acquire a commitment that we must fulfill, on the other hand with fidelity we maintain a commitment because we want it that way.
They are closely related, but they have their very marked differences, perhaps in many cases we will be faithful to something or someone, and in others we will be loyal according to our ideals.
