Me and my mom once went out grocery shopping. I must have been 10 year old. After we got done with picking things for home, I happened to get back to our car while my mom was making the payment. I stood there waiting for my mom when I spotted a brown stray puppy that looked the cutest. We never had a pet till then, so I started patting it's back and it started rolling over showing me her tummy. My mom came back to see me petting the dog and told me to leave it there. But that arrogant kid I was, I refused and put that little puppy inside the car. Mom was angry because she knew my dad would never want a pet. But, rebellious me didn't care.

We got her home and she found herself a place near our shoe rack. She looked happy and we fed her milk and biscuits. Mom thought dad would leave the dog back to where we picked it from once he gets home, but turned out that little puppy had something in her eyes that attracted dad towards her and she became family.
She was a playful puppy who would come with us wherever we went. She became my dad's favourite and would accompany him to walk every evening. Dad loved taking her for walk. During one such walk she was run over by a truck that killed her there. My dad came home with tears in his eyes. He took his car to get back her body and we gave her a decent burial.
I cried a lot that day, probably that was the day that I cried the most in my life. I couldn't eat properly for days. I don't have her picture, but she is still fresh in our memory. That incident left a deep impact on us and we decided that we would never keep a pet for when some mishaps like this happens, it is very hard to come to terms with it.
