It is hard to imagine life of new mother's without those disposable nappies is it ? Not really. My pediatrician had advised me to keep my baby away from those disposable nappy pads that have the unique gel inside them which traps the pee and keeps the baby dry throughout the night. When I asked why? Why should I not sleep peacefully with my baby all through the night rather than keep changing the wet panty liners and cradle the baby to sleep after a change ?

I could feel the anger building up on that pediatricians face. He must have been in his late 40's when this happened. He grinded his teeth together and told me that if I can't let go off my peaceful sleep for some months, then I am not fit to be a mother. He told me how the chemicals inside these modern disposable nappies that harmful for the child. He also explained to me how these nappies are hard to recycle and are a threat to the Eco system.
Approximately 187 billion nappies are thrown away every year. Many of it goes into facilities where it is recycled into something meaningful while many of these get clogged in the drains. Some even make way to the rivers and oceans where they are eaten by the aquatic animals. Some are thrown away in the open easily accessible by cows and other animals.
It is our responsibility to save the environment, but it is also our duty that we provide our children safe and healthy infancy. Imagine keeping yourself packed in plastic bags for the entire day, would you feel good?
I have used reusable nappy pads on both my kids and they hate diapers. Both my sons were toilet trained at a very young age. Not having a diaper on automatically makes them use the washroom to save themselves from soiling their clothes and also social embarrassment. I also happened to save a lot on the diaper cost.
