Maid's are altogether a new species these days. House maid's are hard to find and if found try are harder to maintain. The working class cannot operate their lives without the help of a house maid who would take care of the home and kitchen and that impacts the humbleness of these species. The demand and supply theory works great here.

Thanks to the developing economy and literacy, there are hardly few people in India who are not educated to find a good job for themselves. House maid job is not considered a prestigious one, hence not many options for it, though this reduces the supply of maids it has a inverse impact on their demand. Everyone has a high paying job which makes them capable of enjoying luxuries like having a maid to complete the house hold chores.
They demand high pay and do minimal work and when someone points their mistakes they throw tantrums or leave the job.
My aunt and uncle both in the late 80's are staying alone as their kids are settled abroad. To help them with household chores, they have a maid, who gets angry whenever there are any visitors. The maid makes sure that the guests are made to feel that they are not invited. Though my aunt tells the guest well in advance about the maid's behaviour it doesn't help in making the visitors feel their unwabtedness. My aunt cannot afford to let go the maid because there is no one else who can take her place.
