Kids have high demands these days. They see fancy stuff that their friends own and end up having a want for the same. My 10 year old goes to a school that has children from all class of families. While we belong to the middle class section, he has friends who have rich dad's and also those who work really hard to manage meals for the family. I love the school for it teaches the kids to be humble and not treat anyone differently.

My son was doing great, but off late I have noticed that he easily gets smitten by the things that the rich kids bring to school. Though, I make sure that he doesn't take anything that is unreasonable to school, there are some parents who load their kids with pricey stuffs. I could see the change in my son when he started demanding fancy Fire Fox bicycles and smart watches.
I tried making him understand that his old bicycle works exactly like Fire Fox and a bicycle will remain a bicycle no matter which brand it is from, but he is adamant. I strictly told him he won't get everything that his friends have and even if we get him some, he won't be allowed to take it to school to show off. He remained angry with a puffed face for 2 days and asked if I could get him a fitness band at least. I thought it was reasonable and got him one. I hope he understands why I am against such show off's and I also hope other parents also understand the need to not send such unaffordable goodies to school with their kids.
