Hello guys! Hope you're all well. My name is Sam Smithson and I'm 22 years old and love to travel!
Back in September, I decided I was going to take a months trip to Asia. As none of my old travel buddies wanted to go on the trip with me I decided to venture halfway across the world by myself, and Im not going to lie its the best decision I've ever made.
Was I nervous? Yes… Did I almost not do it? YES… Would I do it again HELL YES!!!
In this blog post I want to motivate and inspire people and to take the leap and travel this unbelievable world, and not to be put off by the idea of doing it alone. Here are my top 3 reasons why solo travel is an amazing way of travelling the world.
- Forces you to interact and meet new people!
Travelling, in my opinion, is about taking the plunge into the unknown and doing and experiencing things you cant do in your home country. Everyone travelling alone is in the same boat and this opens up a huge opportunity to meet like minded people. Not everyone will be travelling solo but you’d be surprised by how many actually are! I love the feeling of walking into a new room and not knowing who is going to be there and the different types of people Im going to meet. We are all on the same journey looking to experience similar things so the conversation just flows. Ive found myself walking into hostels and within 20 minutes we would be in a local bar having drinks and food and getting to know more about each other! Meeting new people in my opinion is one of the best things about solo travel!

2.The sense of being free!
Another amazing benefit to tratravelingone is the fact you can literally do what you like when you like. YES I love travelling with my friends and the fun we have is amazing, but you have to all agree as a group what the plan is, all decide what time you want to get up or go out and all stick to a plan which everyone is happy with… Travelling alone this doesnt happen.

I think the thing to take away from this is you can be as spontaneous as you like and don’t have anyone telling you, no. You can do what you like, when you like, which I love!

3.The world is not as big as you think! So just go for it!
Whenever I begin my travels I always overthink things! I always wonder if Im doing the right things or could my money be better spent on other things and always at the end of the trip Im happy with everything ive done and tend to regret nothing! What have you got to lose… The way I look at things is… you are always 2 modes of transport away from home. You need something to take you to the airport and you need to get on a plane back home. Travelling isn’t for everyone, but if you’re anxious about going alone just remember that! Also we have our cell phones today too, so If you need to speak to someone you can chat anytime of the day! We are always 24 hours away MAX from our comfort zones! So just go for it!
I really want to thank anyone who has taken the time to read this! My writing skills I know can improve but Im trying. Im going to be releasing many more travel videos and edits so stay tuned for that.
