Your story seems to be a woven mix of memories bundled together to show how trouble followed Uncle Mike. It did read more like a memoir than fiction. I thought Udo would end up dying at Mike's hand, however, he died independently of anything Mike did, which surprised me, given how the story was set up. The story progresses to show how everyone's lives turned out after leaving the compound. It seems a relatively happy ending despite the tragedy of loss suffered in the earlier years. If this is a piece of short story fiction I feel it would be better to introduce fewer characters and sideline stories and flesh them out more, otherwise, we are left feeling like we need more 😉 I feel like we don't know enough about our protagonist or her sister to be invested in how their lives turn out. There were also some anomalies that I couldn't quite reconcile. Besides that, you have a consistent writing style that works relatively well in the first-person narrative 🤗
