I've got good news for you, you can learn to play chess, monitor your progress as a course and also move from a total novice and climb the rank With the duolingo app!

First things first, download the Duolingo app from the App Store(IOS) - Sorry to Burst This out, it’s not available for Android yet!
If you already have the app and you learn any language with it, Just click Language flag and it would show you the new courses you can learn.
As you can see, There is a chess option. Once you click it you’d get the following options from the question “How well do you know chess”
I’m a total beginner (You can choose this option if you don’t have a clue about chess)
I know a bit, but could use a refresher (This takes you basic practice exercises on how the pieces moves! Click here if you already know how this pieces moves)
I know how to play, I’m ready for tactics (You can click this if you already know how to play)
Why This Duolingo course Is Great to Start With
First, Chess is a very practical game, you need to not just learn but practice. This course gives you the opportunity to learn and immediately practice. Another thing that stands out is the fact that you get to start from whatever level you are already and even if you pick the wrong one, through practices it recommends the lessons that are for you
So even if you don’t know where to start. A set of practice questions would be given to you to determine where to begin. That I find useful and great!
Learn Chess With Similar Language Strategy
If you’re familiar with how Duolingo works teaching languages then you’d appreciate the chess course as it uses the same methods. You can start a streak, share and motivate friends to learn chess. You can earn Xp as you practice and move up the course ladder
I think this course is brilliant with this idea as you learn chess in a fun way. Also I can even track your progress from my end!
Practice, Practice Practice!
Aside the practice in each lesson, you can always practice a 20 minute match with their computer
I played the computer- They added some funny statements to the computer so it’s exciting.
“I’d go easy on you” I won the test game in less than 10 moves but I figured the computer plays stronger as you progress
After trying a few more times, Still was able to overcome the computer.
I think overall it’s a great app for getting started. It’s free so you can understand that there are Ads and if you don’t like it you can subscribe for a premium version!
Duolingo’s chess course has the same feel that has made their language learning so effective! Imagine now applied to chess With guided puzzles, with their AI coach named Oscar.. I believe it’s one of the best new course out there.
With what I read while doing some research There’s a lot more update to come. Aside Addition of other languages and also an android version, There are planning to give players a Elo rating so you can feel like a professional.
