Greetings!
This life has its rules and regulation guiding it, likewise do we have the rules and regulations guiding the activities of everyone living inside it, these rules are regulations are so important and sacrosanct that it must be followed to the latter so as to have a better and a sane society and everything therein.
Having said this, I would like to delve into the topic of the prompt in the Hive learners community which is all about, “Client privilege.”
One thing about every profession is that they must respect and protect the interest of their client or customers and this can be done through the rules and regulations of these professions which is also known as ethics.
Every of the professions we have in the world have their own rules and regulations that must be followed and to be candid with us, the common rules if every professions is to protect their client and customers interest and one of those ways to do this is to keep the secret being told to them by their clients, patients, members, customers or any other name we can call them.
To me, there's nothing bad in keeping the secret being told to us in our professions by our clients and customers and this is because there are some secrets that are meant to be kept so as to protect ourselves and that if our customers or clients, be as it may.
Furthermore, this clause wouldn't have been inserted into the ethical rules of some professions if it's not needed for the safety of their customers and the glory of pride of such a profession. So, since the rules have been put in place, then I see no reason why it should not be followed by the so-called professionals who are expected to be the custodians of their various professions.
However, as good as protecting the image and the secret of our customers could be, one thing that should also be protected is the general interest of everyone living in the society. This should be jealously protected and placed far above the interest of any profession and anyone.
What I'm saying here is that, if a secret being told by a client or customer would pose a threat to the entire populace in the society, then the professional in charge must be able to apply ethical wisdom in the way that the secret would be told to the said society without him or her hurting the interest of his or her client. This must be done with the aim of him or her helping the society to live in peace without him or her exposing the client to the wrath of the society, he or she must be able to protect his or client and shield him or her from the public backlash or threat as well.
In conclusion, the ethics of our professions must be obeyed, but in the instances that the secret being told to us by a client can be so dangerous and damaging to the society, then the needed step of revealing such must be taken.
