It happens most of the time that I look at the world around me and I ask myself the question, why is there so much evil? We are exposed to pain, hatred, violence, injustice, and suffering anywhere. I sometimes get overwhelmed, and I question God how He could be a good God, and why he can allow all this.

However, when I turn to the Bible, I start to realize that it is not God who started evil. It started with sin. In Genesis 1:31, the bible states that God made all things good. Evil had come in when man contravened God.

In Romans 5: 12, the Bible explains that one man is the way sin entered the world and this is through the sin that death came. Since then the heart of man had been perverted. In Jeremiah 17: 9, it says that the heart is a deceiver of all things.

This demonstrates the fact that evil is not an inward God. I also have acknowledged that most individuals make their own choices rather than the ways of God, and this contributes to increased evil in the world.

The other explanation of the existence of evil is that Satan is Witchcrafting. 1 Peter 5: 8 advises that the devil is like a roaring lion, and whom he will probably swallow. He disseminates lies, hatred and destruction. But thank God, He has not abandoned us, but 1 John 4:4 says that he who is in us is greater than he who is in the world.

In my opinion, God permits evil in the meantime to enable people to know the contrast between good and evil. We get to know the worth of goodness, love and righteousness through evil. Romans 8: 28 tells us that God is capable of making good use of everything to the people who love Him. Even in pain, God is working.

On a personal level, I tend to believe in God whenever I do not know. I am aware that He is righteous, caring, and loyal. Evil will come to a stop one day and righteousness will prevail.

I will continue believing, praying, and making the decision to do good, until then. Revelation 21: 4 brings me hope that God will remove all the tears and no more pain. My heart braketh not that promise.

God bless his word
Amen
