There are a lot of individuals in this world who desire to know what to expect tomorrow. I also used to think what tomorrow, next year, or the next level of my life will occur. It happens that in some cases it is due to fear. At other occasions, it is owing to the fact that we are planning to do good in the future. However, as I still study within the teachings of the Members Church of God International, I now realize that it is not really man and his own power that gives him the knowledge of the future.
The Bible explains vividly that only God is at liberty to know the future. The Bible states in Isaiah 46: 10, declaring the end before the beginning, and before the times of antiquity, the things which are not yet done… This demonstrates that God is already aware of what is in store of us. We as human beings can just plan but God guides our footsteps. The reason why Proverbs 16:9 states that, a mans heart devises his way: but the lord directs his steps, is because the lord controls the way a man acts.
I used to be concerned about what tomorrow will be. However, I was taught not to rely on luck reading, prophesying, and human forecasts concerning the future. It states in James 4:14, that, whereas ye know not what will be tomorrow... This is something that reminds me that everything is in the hands of God and I need to trust Him on a daily basis.
I think God does not want us to attempt to determine what will happen tomorrow, but rather do what is right. We shall be good in future as long as we follow His commandments. Written in Matthew 6:34, Take therefore no thought for the morrow.. God desires us to be people of faith and believers in his plans.
Summing up, it is not important to know the future, but it is important to know God. I have also come to know that as long as I dedicate my life to Him, I have already secured my future. I have now the responsibility of obeying, believing and waiting patiently until the will of God occurs in my life.
God bless his word
Amen
