Knowing the Future was an important lesson that I learned about total trust in God. There are lots of people wondering what's going to happen next day. We tend to think about our future, our family, our work, our education and much more. At times we would like to know what is to come in order to get ready. This brought my focus back to the fact that only God knows what will happen in the future though.
God's Word says that He knows what will happen in the end, before it begins. God tells us in Isaiah 46:10, "Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done. This verse teaches us that God knows all things. No one can know with certainty what will happen to the world in the future like God does. Hence, we should trust Him rather than in our own wisdom.
I realized that I have a lot of fears because I feel like I'm trying to control things that I can't control. At times I had to think about things in my life that would happen and be concerned because I didn't know what would happen. I wanted to know answers now, but answers did not come when I expected them. Hindsight is 20-20, and I can see that God led me all the way, even when I could not see where the road would be going.
This resonates with me in the sense of one experience where I was waiting for something important to happen in my life. I got nervous – I was not sure what would happen. Each day I wondered and thought about what would happen. Emotionally draining. After praying and putting my trust in God, things were much better than I imagined, though. That's what I learned that day, I don't have to know what will happen in the future, I know the One who does.
The Lord Jesus also gave us the lesson that we should not be unduly concerned about tomorrow. Matthew 6:34: Take no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall bring forth its own sorrows. I am reminded of God's plan for me to live a faithful life today, rather than worrying about what may happen tomorrow.
Other verses that are comforting are Proverbs 3:5-6, which states, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy ways. These words make me aware that God can always guide His children in the right direction.
To conclude, Knowing the Future deepened my trust in God and fired up my understanding that God has the control of all things. I don't know what tomorrow may bring, but I know God does. I want to live in faith, trust His plans, and obey His commands, rather than fear or be uncertain of what He is going to do. Through this lesson, I was tremendously moved and inspired to rely on God more every day.
