MCGI Topic Review | How do I overcome peer pressure biblically
As a Christian, it is not necessarily easy to overcome peer pressure. Most of the time, friends, classmates, or other individuals around us push us to do things that do not go in line with the will of God. They can request us to lie, cheat, fight, and indulge in bad practices.
When I am going through such situations, I tend to get disoriented and frail. However, the Bible educates me that I am not the only one and God is always willing to assist me to stand up. In Book of Proverbs 1:10, the Word of God says,
My son, should there be a temptation of sinners, saying; consent not. This makes me remember that I have to learn how to say no.
Knowing who I am in Christ is one of the methods of overcoming peer pressure. I grow stronger when I recall the fact I am a child of God.
According to the Bible, in the book of Romans, chapter 12 verses two, it states; do not be in accord with this world, but be ye changed by the renewing of your mind. This verse reminds me that I should not imitate the bad things because, I should think like God wants me to think.
Wrong advice can be easier to disregard when my mind is filled with the Word of God.
The other significant method is by praying. I approach God in his true nature when I am under pressure. I confess to Him my fears and disabilities.
I say now and then, Lord help me to be fighty. In Book of Galatians chapter 1 verses 10, the bible provides that, Do I cater to men or to God? This makes me keep in mind that it is better to please God more than people.
In addition, it is significant to select good friends. Godly friends will be able to influence me to do what is right. They will not mock at me because I followed God. As an alternative, they will pray with me and help me out.
Finally, I also defeated peer pressure by putting my trust into God, reading His Word, praying with the heart, and having good friends.
It is not necessarily simple, yet by the aid of God, I will be able to stand solid. In my opinion, I will always be honored by God, and He will be at peace with me when I decide to choose Him instead of people.
God bless his word
Amen
