There are times we see ourselves making decisions without giving them much thought. We don’t always know how things will turn out, and there are times when we only how important it would have been if we had taken a moment to carefully brood on a matter before we took action is when time has already passed.

One thing I have come to understand is that not every important decision has to be something big. Sometimes, it could just be a small change in the way you think or approach certain situations that makes a difference. For instance, learning to stop comparing my progress with other people’s has really changed the way I look at life.

I remember the times when seeing someone achieve something I was struggling with could make me feel like I wasn’t doing enough. It didn’t matter to me whether I had made progress of my own. I would still find a reason to feel like I was behind or wasn’t doing good enough.

But at some point, I began to understand that everybody is not the same. Someone might be doing well in the financial aspect, while someone on the other hand person is still trying to find his feet. Someone might have already decided on the career path he wants to dive into, while someone else may not have had is mind made up and is still be checking out different options.

We don’t all start from the same place, and our lives don’t follow the same pattern. Since then, I have tried to pay more attention to my own progress. I still admire people who are doing well, in a way they actually motivate me to do better. But I no longer think their success should be a reason to look down on myself or think that I am not making any progress.

And yeah, this is a lot easier said than done. Social media doesn’t even help matters because we are constantly exposed to other people’s good aspects of their lives. It’s now starting to look like social media it’s the fasted route to depression because you just keep on seeing things that make you begin to question your life.

But I have learned that what we see is only one aspect of other people’s life. Nobody wants to expose the side of imperfections. Everybody seems to be displaying this photoshopped so to say lifestyle on the internet. But in most cases the real life; the one when the camera is off, is not so perfect like they try to make us believe.

For me, I’d say life becomes a little easier when you stop treating someone else’s progress as a yardstick of your own. There is nothing wrong with taking your time, making some mistakes along the way, and figuring things out gradually. Sometimes, the best decision you can make is to move at your own pace and not take life as a competition.
