Achieving success is a very adorable thing. However, the major challenge comes with maintaining the success. There are some people who have experienced some successful moments, but they ended up losing what they had built. Yet there are still others that have continued to grow and remain relevant for years. The difference is not necessarily about how fast they achieved the success in the first place, rather the different lies in managing and maintaining the success over time. Temporary success may be as a result of talent, intelligence, opportunity, or even through luck. But to sustain the success, you will need more than just that. This is where your character, discipline, and continuous growth comes into play. Here, we shall take a look at some ways by which one can sustain, manage, and maintain their success.

The first one is humility. One of my mentors said that when he was growing up, his mother told him that when he starts making it in life, that he should always remain small in his eyes. This talks about humility. Success can easily lead to pride, which can lead one to making poor decision. But it is humility that makes one to remain teachable, open to correction, and approachable. Humble people recognise that, even though they have achieved a level of success, there is still more to come. While proud people think that they have arrived. It takes humility to be able to continue to listen to others, accept feedbacks, and acknowledge the contributions of the people around them. When you are humble and follow instructions, directions, and guidance, you will avoid costly mistakes.
The second point is by having a good character and integrity. You have to understand that lasting success is not entirely based on what you have achieved, but how you achieved it also plays a big role. A success gotten by dishonest and crooked means is rarely sustainable. In order to sustain a success, the way by which you achieved the success has to be based on integrity, honesty, trust, truthfulness, and ethical behaviour. A strong character creates a strong foundation upon which lasting success is build.
The next point is continuous learning. One of the things that prevent someone from achieving lasting success is to believe that there is nothing more to learn. You have to understand that the world is continuously changing, so if you must remain relevant, you need to adapt, keep learning, and then keep improving. Your success is limited to what you know per time. That is, you may not be able to succeed beyond the level of what you know. You will agree with me that there are things you knew many years back that have either lost relevance now, or may have been replaced or phased out. Now, imagine if you did not learn and evolve, your knowledge would have been rendered obsolete.
The fourth point is consistency. You have to understand that success is not a 100metre race that you just run and arrive at the finish line. It is worthy to note that that you achieved success does not mean that you should relax and become complacent. You have to continue to work and improve on what you have achieved. If you get to a level in life, understand that there is still more levels ahead that you need to attain. It is consistency that ensures that success is not a one-time event, but a progression and a continuous advancements.

The last point is to learn to adapt. Things change, the world evolve, technology evolve, circumstances can also shit. This is why you need to adapt. The people who refuse to adapt may stand the risk of becoming irrelevant or obsolete. To maintain success, you have to remain flexible and willing to adjust to new methods and strategies when required. It is adaptability that helps you to stay relevant and remain effective even when situations and circumstances change.
You have to understand that success is not about getting to the top, but also about remaining there. The success you do not work to improve on may diminish with time. Also know that a true mark of success is not in just one achievement, but by progressing and growing continuously.
