In the world that we find ourselves now, everything is being demanded for in a quick-quick way. Speed has become the order of the day, so much that waiting is being seen as punishment. It is not bad to want things to be done or to work speedily, but you should also understand that there are times that waiting is part of the process - this is called patience. You should learn how to follow the due process in the things you are pursuing after. As a matter of fact, there are things that if you go against certain due processes, you will just end up ruining them. There is a need to follow the methods and the processes.

Waiting is part of the fundamental requirements of nature itself. It is not just about sharpening your desires, but it also gets you prepared for what lies ahead, and makes you who you are. As a farmer for example, when you have planted a particular crop, you should know how long you need to wait for the crop to germinate, grow, and produce fruits. No matter how in a hurry you may be, you cannot go against that particular natural course and expect to have a good result. Imagine a farmer trying to harvest his fruits when the plants are still flowering, he will end up destroying the crops. You see why patience is important. When a woman conceives, there is an expected number of months that she will carry the pregnancy before delivery - this is the course of nature. If she decides to induce delivery before the due time, he might put the pregnancy at risk.
A lot of the problems that face people are simply because they have not followed the due process. When you break the process, you may cut yourself off from achieving the result. For everything that you want to achieve, there are usually some steps to follow, principles to obey, methods to follow, and way to go about it. If you obey all other principles but fail in the principle of patience, you may not achieve the result. You are not wasting your time by wait or exercising patience, rather you are aligning with the due process. As a farmer for example, no matter how much hurry you are in, and how much you want to harvest your crops, you cannot plant maize and expect to harvest it the same week. The same way in life, when you invest for example, you will also need to allow it to mature.
If people learn the power and necessity of patience, a lot of the problems facing humanity would have been solved. It is actually lack of patience that causes desperation, and people willing to do just anything for quick returns. Short cuts are not always the best cuts in the journey of life. It may look like an easy way out, but at the end, it may present with some consequences that you never even imagined. In the school of success, patience is a fundamental course that you need to pass. It is when you have patiently followed the process that you will obtain the result.

However, it is what you do when you are waiting that differentiates between patience and just wasting time. Waiting does not mean just sitting and doing nothing. Patience is active, not passive. While waiting for the maturity of a step that you have taken, you can use the period to learn new things, acquire new knowledge, improve on your skills, and become a better version of yourself. What you do while waiting is actually more important than the waiting period itself. At each stage in life, there will always be lessons to pick up. By going through these lessons, you will be better prepared to face the next phase of your life. It is at the period of waiting that you need to improve on yourself, so that waiting will not become wasting.
Some of the successes and achievements that look like "overnight success" may actually have taken years of unseen waiting. That is, years of quiet preparation, and long period of building. A house does not just come down from the sky, it is built intentionally from the foundation. In the same way, every good thing that you hope to achieve will definitely come at a cost, and part of the cost is waiting for the right time.
