In this particular time and era, it seems that financial requirements and responsibilities are on the increase; which is as a result of economic factors, inflation, high cost of living, etc. So for someone to stay afloat with all these responsibilities, one needs to consider having other investments that will yield financial returns instead of being overly dependent on just one source of income. However, while investing, there are factors that should be considered and one of them is the diversification of your investment. Here, we shall be looking at investment diversification as a way to achieve financial stability.

One may ask what investment diversification means. Well, simply put; it is the distribution or spreading of ones financial investment into more than one asset, so as to reduce the inherent risk in them. For example; instead of concentrating all your whole investment funds in one business, it will be safer to have other businesses to invest in. What if something unpleasant happens to that one business that you have invested all your life savings into, it may break you completely? But if you have other business, the loss will not be as much.

More so, there are some business that are related to time and geographical location, or even season. For example; for someone that is into the sales of umbrella in this part of the world, you will understand the need for other complementary businesses. This is because there are basically two seasons; the rainy and the dry season. So the umbrella business will only boom during the rainy season when everyone will have a need of it because of the rain. However, the person also needs something else to sustain them during the dry season. So if their investment is not diversified, then their income might not be up to par.

I remember during the lockdown period of the years 2020-2021, a lot of businesses were affected in this part of the world and it also affected the financial state of some people negatively. However, even in that lockdown, many other businesses thrived, especially the busineses that were related to health and hygiene products - like hand sanitizer, hand gloves, nose mask, etc. That period, a lot of people were diversifying their investment into those businesses, and they really made money from them because they were in demand. That is the benefits of investment diversification.

Even in the crypto space, investors should also learn diversification. You will agree with me that you cannot accurately predict what will become of a coin or a crypto project even with your extensive research. So it is always advisable that, when you want to invest in the crypto space, you have to diversify your funds. I learnt this the hard way. During my earlier days in the crypto world, a friend of mine brought a particular project to me to invest in at presale. The project looked good and because of the person that brought it, I decided to invest in it. I used a couple of funds for it. After a few days, she came back again and persuaded me to invest more.

She convinced me how good the token was and what I stand to gain by investing. At that point, I used the funds which I had initially coupled for something else to invest into the token. Sadly, the coin never launched and the whole investment went south. The money was gone and I felt so bad about it. It was even later that I got to find out that my friend was actually contracted by the project developers to help them with marketing; no wonder she was persuading me and many others to invest into the business. It was after that time that I learnt my lessons not to invest everything into just one crypto project, but to diversify.

Still on crypto diversification, this does not only deal with investment but also in wallets. You should also learn to put your crypto holdings in more than one wallet. So that if one is compromised, it will not affect all your assets. For example; the wallet you use for your airdrops should be different from the one you use for trading and different from the one with a long-term investment. Diversification limits the propensity of investment risks and the likelihood of losses.

It is worthy to note that the benefits of diversification is not just to minimise risks but it also leads to additional profit return. Of course, diversification of investment entails having more than one source of income as a result of having more than one investment.
