Everyday you live, you will meet people, in your neighbourhood, your place of work, the streets, etc, and you interact with them or relate with them. Some of these encounters may last for a few moments, while some will last a while. Now the question is; after you have met people, what impact have you created in them, and how are they after they have encountered you? Life is not just about living for yourself, but also about being the reason why someone is better. A lot of people that you meet are facing some challenges that you may not even know, and you may be their hope of being better. Let people feel better after they have left you, not worse then they met you.

It does not always require wealth, massive achievement, or so much influence to be able to leave someone better than you met them. There are times that even the small gestures that are often overlooked can become what will uplift them. Things like a word of encouragement, a kind word, an idea, a piece of advice, a listening ear, a shoulder to lean on, an act of kindness, etc. It is the impact you leave on people that will become part of the legacies that you create. Trust me, people will always remember you for the way you have improved their lives. Someone who has affected someone positively will be valued over someone else who has great possession but does not affect anyone positively. It is not about the largeness of your possession, but about the depth of your impact, and the largeness of your heart.
There are ways by which you can be the reason why someone is better, and we shall take a look at some. Firstly, you have to learn to encourage people to believe in themselves. A simple "you can do this" that you tell someone can be what they will need to resuscitate their hope. You will be surprised how a lot of people struggle with self-doubt, discouragement, inferiority complex, etc. These kind of people often need someone to remind them that they can actually achieve more then they think. Speak to people the words that build up their confidence. Then when they achieve a positive thing, try to celebrate their wins.
In addition, you have to be willing to help people. People will grow easily when they have support. Always look for opportunities to help, support, and assist people. It can come in various ways. Like career opportunities, helping them grow their skills, and to overcome obstacles. To help someone, you also have to listen to them, know what they want. Invest in their growth, share valuable information and updates with them. If you see an opportunity and share with someone, you are creating influence that will outlive you in their lives. What you do for someone is like a seed that you plant into their lives.

Also, judge less and understand more. Someone may take an action or make a decision which you may not understand the reason behind. If you judge them based on their actions, you may make mistakes or misjudge them. This is why you need to understand the reason behind what they did and their intention. You will be surprised that they may actually come from a place of pure intention. As a matter of fact, there are times that actions and intentions may not agree, so always try to understand people's perspectives before you judge. The things that you would have judged them on, if you were in their shoes, you may even do worse than them. So judge less.
More so, always learn to lead by example. People tend to learn more from what you do, rather than what you say with your mouth. What you do, your character, discipline, integrity, humility, kindness, and even your work ethics can motivate others and inspire them to improve on themselves. When you live your life, know that people are watching you, so live in a way that will make people to want to become a better version of their lives. Let your character become a tool of inspiration, that will motivate people to pursue excellence, integrity, and compassion.
