The Yuletide is a season to celebrate love and the very essence of it should be centered around humanity and not just on oneself. It is not enough to enjoy this season and to celebrate alone, but what also matters is how you have affected others positively with your expression of love. That is, are others part of your celebration or is it just "me, myself, and I?" If this season is all about you, then you have lost the real purpose of the season. We all need to show love, not just to loved ones but to humanity. Remember this, the season is not just about eating and drinking but to create impact in the hearts of others.

A friend once made a statement during our chit-chat sometimes ago about the Yuletide and he said "if you have enough to eat, then share with those who do not have." These words sank so deep within me that I realized that we are meant to also live for others, especially in this season of celebration. Now I ask you, throughout this season, how many people's lives have you affected positively? How many people have sincerely told you "thank you" because of your acts of love towards them? You may not know it but all these are what make this season memorable. Love should be shown to all and not to only those that have shown you love in the time past. Yes, even when you are saving your friend, you can also spare your enemy.

One make ask how can one show love during this? Obviously, love is not shown in words but in deeds and actions. You cannot claim to have love or full of love if nothing from you drops for others. You can show your heart of love by your acts of giving. What you acquire is not what will make people to remember you but what you give from what you have acquired. As a matter of fact, it is your gift, among others, that substantiates your heart of love towards others. If this season is to express love, then it should also show in your givings.

This is also a season to do good, not just to people you know but to others. If everyone will do their own part to be good, then the world will definitely be a better and more conducive place. So basically, this Yuletide season tends to remind us of the need to do good. It does not matter how others treat you, how you relate to people is a direct function of how you are on the inside. Your goodness is a product of your personality and it should find expression to all. If you are good to only your family and friends, and not to others like your staff, neighbours, subordinates, colleagues, etc, then you are not good in the first place.

As you celebrate this season, also take out a few moments to have a deep reflection on the reasons behind the season, reflect on life itself, on what makes us humans, on our contributions to making the world a better place, and also the impact you have created in and around your environment. While doing all these, the watchword should be "love." You will agree with me that when you have love in your inside, there are things that will naturally flow from your hands to others. This is why I believe that it has to be in your heart first before it can get expressed by your hands. By having love, you will not have difficulty showing goodness. No wonder this quote has always remained fresh:

Love is the ultimate.

However, one thing to also know is that showing of love and our acts of goodness should not be limited to just a particular season of the year, it should be part of us and our daily lifestyle. After the Yuletide, what happens? This is why we should take on the personality of goodness, not because we are in the season of love, but because it makes us better humans and proves our humanity. For each passing day, responsibility is laid on us to do good and we should not fail in that responsibility. You do not have to possess an overflowing pocket before you show goodness to someone else. Even the very little you seem to have can be used to show love. This is why I believe that love is not a function of the size of the pocket, neither is it based on the quantity of material possessions you have, but it is principally a function of the size of your heart.

Merry Christmas to you all.
