Hello and welcome to my blog once again, today's write-up is in accordance to this week's prompt which is 'Popular statements you don't agree with'. When I saw the prompt I just smiled because there are alot of statements that I disagree with that are very popular in the society and am just going to talk about few of them and the first one is "A FRIEND OF A THIEF IS A THIEF'. I very much disagree with this statement to a certain extent because alot of times people conclude on that notion affirming steadfastly that a friend of a thief is a thief. To a certain extent that is the case but not always, because among all the friends that a thief will have there are those that don't engage in the same mischievous activities like stealing.
I had a friend though I won't say his name whom I was close to and we hangout together, but suddenly I started seeing him with some other guys from another area together most times and the guys are those kind that you need to be suspicious and cautious of, so I warned him to be careful of them because they don't look like trustworthy and honest kind of guys but he said I shouldn't worry they dont engage in the kind of things i was thinking so I told him I trust you because I have known you for a long time and I know what you are capable of and what you are not capable of but I don't know them well enough and don't trust them at all, but he told me to take it easy so and I said ok no problem
Then one day this same boys were caught because they stole appliances from a store at night and it was traced to them, so when the police started investigating them and asking them questions regarding who were involve, they implicated my friend saying he was one of them but as God will have it that day when they carried out their operation I was together with this friend of mine and we were playing video game at my place because there was steady light that day and we love playing video games, so when the police came looking for him at his place the next day on the ground that he was a suspect, he was able to vindicate himself because he had so many alibi that proved them wrong and he was allowed to walk away because the proof where sufficient enough
Since from then I told him watch who you walk with and call friends because this situation has proven that when conditions are not favourable betrayal and deceit will definitely arise. I reminded him that if it's not because of the alibi that he has, people will have definitely concluded which some already did because they saw him and the guys together days before the incident where the guys stole the appliances and they assumed he had joined them if not for the clarification from the police and witnesses.
This notion has gone on for long and I think questions should be asked and situations understood before concluding on anything.
This is my take on "Popular statements you don't agree with".
