{Shingeki no Kyojin} : female characters are treated as serious soldiers (combat offense roles not just defense/supporting), taken seriously by males, integrated seamlessly with their male counterparts (exact same uniform, no battle bikini or boob physics or seductress powers etc). They’re also well-developed and actually required by the plot.
Mystery/ thriller/ character drama. Isn’t center stage “feminist”, but the (important) female characters are interesting and treated seriously. It’s also pretty grounded and avoids bottom barrel ‘anime’ pitfalls .
Personally I would recommend against MahouYome (MC girl constantly in need of rescue) and Assassination Classroom (I love it, but the values are extremely “old fashioned” to say nicely, esp regarding the adult female’s arc, and the humor can be very anime). If you can get past the main girl in Durarara who takes a long time to get going, that’s a fun show that doesn’t hold back with its girls (they’re just as interesting and varied and unhinged as the guys).

{Seirei no Moribito}. It's a medieval adventure about a ridiculously badass female bodyguard protecting a young prince.
{Log Horizon}? One of the main three characters is a female assassin who's always pushing herself to be better. Bunch of other talented women throughout the show, too.
{Assassination Classroom} has a good female cast, all of which are extremely talented assassins in their own right. Also a great comedy in general.
Try {Durarara}. One of the female leads may seem powerless at first, but I promise that it's all a ruse.
{Kyousou Giga (TV)} is a story about one girl using her hammer to shatter reality and reunite her family.
