I agree that the number of tanks available to send from European NATO is not sufficient to make any difference on the battlefield. I have come across differing figures for IDF tank losses during the 2006 war with Hezbollah. Whichever figure you go with the IDF was shocked by the impact of Soviet/Russian made anti tank weapons on their much vaunted tank forces. The IDF was forced to retreat from the town of Bint Jbeil due to its heavy losses which were mainly caused by Soviet era anti tank weapons.
In an article from 6 August 2006 Haaretz comments:
"The majority of Israel Defense Forces ground troops casualties, both infantry and armored, were the result of special anti-tank units of Hezbollah, according to intelligence sources.

The same sources note that these units have not retreated from southern Lebanon following the deployment of large IDF ground forces in the area.

The Hezbollah anti-tank teams use a new and particularly potent version of the Russian-made RPG, the RPG-29, that has been sold by Moscow to the Syrians and then transferred to the Shi'ite organization.''

Western tanks will face a plethora of Russian modern anti tank weapons, artillery, T80/90 tanks and warplanes when they are sent to the Donbass. I wonder how these 'wonder weapons' will fare?
