Splinterlands: Starlight Arrives! 36 New Cards, a New Chase on the Frontier

[ENGLISH]

Are you playing Frontier Mode? Frontier has remained unchanged for a long time, but finally, there's a change to the meta. The mini-set StarLight has been added!

Wow, I really didn't see this coming.

I wonder how long this has been in the works. As soon as the information was announced, it was released right away. Had this been planned behind the scenes all along?

Anyway, let's take a look at what kind of cards are included.

Cards

I'm happy to see six Summoners included. We really need more Summoner options. Otherwise, the meta never changes.

It has no abilities. 😭 The meta isn't going to change. 😭 Come on, come on! I wish they'd given it some kind of ability. Or maybe made it an Epic instead.

That's what I thought at first, but then I realized something. Its cost is only 4, which is a big advantage. It can also be used in Little League rulesets. When you look at it that way, maybe it's actually a pretty good card.

Among the Units, the Legendary cards are definitely impressive. These two look particularly strong.

The first one is DARK OMEN. Its mana cost is on the high side, but having a Magic attack with Stun is powerful! Its high Speed is another excellent feature. Since it's Neutral, it can be used with any Element.

The second one is PHOENIXDRAKE. It's a Flying Magic unit. There aren't many Flying units in Foundation, so simply having Flying is almost like getting a 25% chance to dodge attacks. It also takes no damage from Earthquake, making it an excellent card.

The other Legendary cards are also really strong, but these two look especially impressive. Both are excellent right from Level 1.

Of course, leveling them up adds more useful abilities, so higher-level cards are obviously stronger. But having money doesn't automatically mean you can buy packs. That's why being powerful with just one copy is a huge advantage in itself.

The other cards, including the Epics and lower rarities, have their own strengths, but they're not particularly easy to use at Level 1. Their stats are low, and they don't have many abilities. It takes a lot of copies to reach the level where you can really make use of their strengths.

For example, I think this card is strong because of its high Speed and Phase, which allows it to dodge Magic attacks. However, it doesn't learn Phase until Level 3, and its attack increases to 2 only at Level 4.

You need 14 copies for Level 3 and a whopping 30 copies for Level 4. 😫

Overall, there are some excellent cards, but it feels like you need to level them up before their strengths really become apparent. And unlike Foundation Packs, the number of Starlight Packs is limited, so I wonder if these cards will be difficult to obtain.

Anyway, you need tokens to purchase Starlight Packs.

Frontier Ranked Jackpot Rewards

Tokens occasionally appear in Daily Rewards, and each token gives you the right to purchase a pack. They're pretty hard to come by, though.

There are three types of tokens, and getting a Cosmic token is like hitting the jackpot. Apparently, it guarantees either a GFA or a BFA. You'd be incredibly lucky to get one! However, purchasing the pack also requires a whopping 15,000 Credits, so that's quite a hurdle. 🤣

DROP Token Distribution

The number of tokens—and therefore the number of packs—is relatively small. Cosmic tokens are extremely limited, and even the combined total of Star and Stellar tokens is only 13,758.

There were 500,000 Escalation Packs in total. According to Peakmonster, there are approximately 115,000 Common cards. That means Commons account for roughly 4.6% of the total.

Escalation has two copies of each Common card per pack, while Starlight has only one. So, if we double that percentage to 9.2%, does that mean the final supply will be around 6,328 copies per Common card? Hmm, that's about one-nineteenth of the Escalation supply?

Well, this rough calculation probably won't give us an accurate figure, but it does show that the supply is quite limited.

If Frontier becomes more popular and the number of players keeps growing, I have a feeling there might not be enough cards to go around. Should we make sure to secure the strong cards while we can? Will their prices go down or up from here?

Given how limited the supply is, I have a feeling prices could skyrocket... Or am I wrong?

Cards

Frontier Ranked Jackpot Rewards

Daily Reward

DROP Token Distribution
