An entry for the #wednesdaywalk challenge hosted by @tattoodjay.
Today was a day full of rain, so my morning hike up the bluff was canceled quite quickly once I rolled out of bed. I was planning on photographing the green on the side of the bluff today for my #wednesdaywalk, but with the rain pouring down, I decided to shoot my morning commute along the "Dustin Alley," aka the "Sagesigma Highway," instead.
Why the Sagesigma Highway? Well, it's my escape from work. I am salaried, by default, but I work with a bunch of crazy clockwatchers. If I'm not at my desk, they look out the office windows to see if my car is in the parking lot. If I don't answer a page because I'm working with an employee on a problem, I'm obviously playing hooky. It's great...but I came up with a solution.
My solution? Park behind a building that is half a block away from the office, and then walk behind another building to get into the office. Why? Well, no matter how many evenings or weekends I work on the couch, that doesn't count for the clockwatchers. You worked 6 hours last Sunday to get people paid, but you are taking a long lunch on a Thursday? Nope, you are busted! Knowing that, I love to mess with the clockwatchers and hide from their prying eyes. I love it.
Not all of it is industrial, either. The picture has a hold beneath the container. I have no idea what lives there, and I've never seen anything scurry into the hole, but I'm sure it has a wonderful life.
The "highway" has a bit of everything. There's abstract art :
A bit of beautiful green and black moss about:
And the odd metallic object ahead that always reminds me of the Kubrick monolith. Sadly, I still have yet to become enlightened or illuminated as I pass by this object every day.
I can still dream though, right?
That's it for this wet and dreary #wednesdaywalk this week! Thanks for stopping by to take a look. I hope to pass on heavy industry views again next week, but I'll play it be ear. Hoping everyone had a wonderful Wednesday too!
