My entry for a #wednesdaywalk share, as inspired by 
For this week's walk, I headed across the river to face the cold wind and temperatures and to check out the Mississippi River. It's the first time I've been to this part of the river. I've seen the exit multiple times when heading along I-90 into Minnesota, but today was the day I finally stopped to check it out.
As I-90 traffic whizzed by overhead, I embraced the cold to check out the wonderfully cold and blue Mississippi River. As many might know, this area, like most of the US, has been under drought conditions for the latter part of this year. The mighty river has taken a toll, too...
You can see from the water gauge above how low the river currently is. I'll plan to come back in a few weeks to take another look.
In the meantime, I found an uprooted old tree along the shoreline...
I poked around a few snow-covered trails...
And, of course, had to get a few photos of the early ice along the shoreline...
It was certainly cold but well worth the trip. Who knows, maybe one of you who happen to read this tonight passed by me...on some random trip crossing the river along a major US interstate today. Next time through, let me know (I'll buy you a beer!)
