A few clear skies the past two weeks allowed me to get into the backyard yet again to play with some photographs of the night sky. I'm still trying to get the hang of shooting the Orion Belt star field; the actual photography isn't too bad, but trying to figure out Snapseed and Light Room and the best edits to a) bring out the stars and b) diminish light pollution is still ongoing. Yet, with all that said, I did like how a few of these turned out from the previous weeks:

For whatever reason, getting a tree focused in the foreground seems to help bring out the tapestry of the night sky.

The next one I tried to get a (nearly) full moon - not much luck, however:

It's a fun hobby; despite powerlines in the backyard, I do have a good shot of the open sky to the South East, where fortunately the Orion constellation has been this February.

If you have any advice on how to better use Snapseed or Light Room for these types of photography, please comment below! If you too are a photographer of the night sky, say hi, and please drop some wisdom too...I'm just getting started in this hobby, and know nothing. I'll continue to give it a go, however, as the weeks progress and new objects show up at night. As hinted in another post, I have some dark sky photos in process now and will share them next week.
