For this week's #sublimesunday, as inspired by @c0ff33a, we went for a morning hike through the local forest to hunt for fungi. It's what Hattie and I like to do (and we definitely "don't mess around," per Hattie), so off we went in search of some nature.
The weather started off nice enough. Sunny with a cold wind that was blocked by the bluffs nearby, the start was perfect. Although we had our winter clothes on, the wind still managed to chill us here and there, despite the bluffs providing some sanctuary.
Despite the cold and the clouds, we braved the elements and found quite a few fungi to take photographs of. Typically I let Hattie point out the "mushrooms" and then I have to take a photograph with my phone camera. Yes, I follow orders...no messing around allowed whatsoever.
There were definitely some interesting finds today. Lots of different colors and shapes. When the sun did pop out from behind the clouds from time to time, the colors became even more fantastic.
So much texture and patterns in the fungi; fortunately, most were easy to find today thanks to the lack of leaves on trees and most weeds long gone. To make the day even better, all of these photographs were taken with a foot of the trails. No bushwhacking required!
It was a good day overall for a #sublimesunday, and when the cold finally made turn back for the car, the walk back in the strong wind was an adventure in and of itself.
Thanks for stopping by and checking out #sublimesunday fun. I hope everyone else had a wonderful weekend too, and until next Sunday, have a great week everyone!
