HiveReactKit & HiveSuite Development Update: Web2 Identity, Publishing & Quota Improvements
HiveReactKit & HiveSuite
HiveReactKit — Web2 Identity & Composer Improvements
Web2 Identity Across Content Creation
Web2 identity support has been extended deeper into the shared HiveReactKit composer components.
Updated components now include:
PostComposerAddCommentInputInlineCommentSection
These components now properly understand Web2 identity information instead of treating Firebase authentication identifiers as the primary user-facing identity.
Display Names & Avatars
Raw Firebase UIDs have been replaced with meaningful Web2 profile information.
Web2 users can now be represented using:
- Web2 display names
- Web2 profile avatars
- Persistent profile identity information
This provides a much more natural experience when users create posts, comments, or interact with content.
Web2 Reward & Beneficiary Handling
Web2 publishing flows now automatically apply the appropriate Web2 beneficiary and reward split configuration.
At the same time, on-chain reward configuration controls that are not applicable to Web2 users have been hidden.
This prevents Web2 users from seeing Hive-specific configuration options that they cannot directly control, resulting in a cleaner and less confusing publishing interface.
Web2 Profile Tabs
Web2 profiles have also been restricted to the appropriate supported profile sections:
- Posts
- Snaps
- Polls
- Replies
This keeps Web2 profile navigation focused on the content and functionality available to Web2 accounts.
Twitter/X Snap Embed Improvements
Twitter/X Snap embeds have been improved with:
- Responsive embed height
- Dynamic iframe resizing
- Better handling across different screen sizes

HiveSuite — Web2 Experience Improvements
Simplified Right Drawer
The Drive option has been completely hidden and removed from the right drawer for all users.
This simplifies the application navigation and prevents users from accessing a feature that is no longer part of the intended user experience.
Web2-Specific Publishing Controls
HiveSuite now provides a cleaner publishing interface for Web2 users by hiding Hive-specific configuration controls that are not relevant to their account type.
The following controls are hidden for Web2 users:
- Beneficiary settings
- Vote weight
- Slider step
- Reward routing
This creates a more focused publishing experience while keeping the advanced Hive controls available to native Hive users.
Web2 Profile Configuration
Profile-tab settings have been updated to match the Web2 profile experience.
Web2 users now see only:
- Posts
- Snaps
- Polls
- Replies
This keeps profile navigation consistent throughout the application.
Persistent Web2 Identity
The authentication store now persistently maintains:
displayNamephotoURL
This allows Web2 identity information to remain available throughout the application instead of being limited to a single authentication or profile screen.
The identity information has been propagated across:
- Composers
- Notifications
- Content containers
- Profiles
- Other relevant Web2-aware UI components
This provides a more consistent identity experience throughout HiveSuite.

Daily Limits & Usage Feedback
Another important improvement was made around Web2 daily usage limits.
HiveSuite now provides clear toast notifications when users reach their daily limits, including reset countdown information.
Instead of leaving users uncertain about when they can continue using a limited feature, the application now communicates the remaining wait period directly.
This makes daily quota handling more transparent and gives Web2 users a clearer understanding of their available resources.

Backend / Web2 Proxy — Quota Synchronization
Accurate Snap & Post Quotas
The backend and frontend quota systems have been synchronized to ensure that Web2 usage information remains accurate.
The synchronization now covers:
- Snap quotas
- Post quotas
- Remaining credits
- Usage updates after publishing
Remaining credits are now updated accurately after:
- Blog posts
- Snaps
This helps prevent discrepancies where the frontend could previously display outdated usage information after a publishing operation.
Keeping quota information synchronized between the backend and frontend is particularly important for Web2 users because their publishing limits are managed through the Web2 infrastructure rather than directly through Hive blockchain resources.

Account-Aware Publishing Experience
The publishing flow has been further improved by making the application selection experience dependent on the active login type.
This creates a clear distinction between Web2 publishing and native Hive publishing.
Web2 Users
For Web2 users, the application selection dropdown is now hidden in:
- Create Blog
- Snaps/Post Composer
Web2 publishing automatically uses HiveSuite with the appropriate application metadata:
hivesuite/1.0
and:
#hivesuite
This removes unnecessary choices from the Web2 publishing interface and ensures Web2 content follows the intended HiveSuite publishing path.
Hive Users
Native Hive users continue to have the full application selection dropdown available and functional.
Hive users can publish through:
- HiveSuite
- PeakD/Snaps
- Snapie
- Waves
- Threads
- Moments
This preserves the flexibility expected by native Hive users while keeping the Web2 experience simple and focused.
