According to the United States Constitution prisioners are Slaves and Slaves don't pay to stay anywhere.

The 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, ratified in 1865 in the aftermath of the Civil War, abolished slavery in the United States. The 13th Amendment states: “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.”

Michigan Jails’ ‘Pay-To-Stay’ Jail Fees Stir Controversy
Critics say charges impose disparate burden on poor; supporters cite fairness to taxpayers

“Pay-to-stay” is little known practice of county jails throughout Michigan. Jails can charge inmates from $20 to $60 per day (the maximum under state law), which can leave an individual with thousands of dollars of debt upon release.

For example, in Jackson County, the average inmate spends 120 days in jail, according to county data. An inmate is charged $32 per day, which means the average inmate racks up a bill of $3,840.

Other Michigan counties have similar policies:

Macomb County bills convicted jail inmates $45 a day. From 2011 through 2015, the county collected nearly $1.2 million in inmate housing fees. That means an inmate serving a six-month sentence could leave with a bill for more than $8,000. It also turns over delinquent accounts to a collection agency.

People sitting in jail for profit in America is Unconstitutional

They are slaves according to the 13th amendment

They should be doing community service instead of sitting waiting for the bonds to clear, their release so the Judges, lawyers and prosecuters can cash out and profit from their doings.
