A sweet picture: a kitten that seems to be playfully chasing leaves, sticks鈥攁nything it can find to hunt and learn with.
I love the picture. I love cats; I think they're very independent and excellent at catching mice in the house. I have an aunt we call the crazy cat lady; she must have more than 20, and of course, her house smells like cats. That's what the picture reminds me of.
I found Junior abandoned in the street. He was freezing, hungry, and terrified. I looked everywhere to see if his mother was anywhere. But he was completely alone. His eyes, though fearful, longed for affection and a little food.
I only had some biscuits and water for my daily ten-kilometer run. Going back would ruin my day, and I'd have to start all over again, so I gave him some biscuits, he drank some water, and I put him in my jacket so he could keep me company on my run. I didn't know how he would react to my body moving as I jogged. But he didn't try to leave my chest; he seemed comfortable there.
I finished my run and went home. I know cats don't like water, but Junior, as I named him, seemed to enjoy the warm bath. He didn't seem to have any of those bloodsucking parasites.
I called a veterinarian friend, and he told me that if there were no injuries or emergencies, I should bring him in tomorrow for a checkup. He was perfectly healthy.
I hadn't introduced him to Dog Junior yet, so whether he stayed would depend solely on his adaptation and behavior. I was hoping they would accept each other.
Junior the cat started accompanying me on my daily training sessions; he didn't seem bothered by all the jumping. I even got him to put him down so he could keep up with my trot, and I think he learned quickly. Once, he gave me a big scare when he jumped in front of a car; I barely managed to save him.
One day, the neighbor's daughter came over saying her white mouse had escaped and asked me to please keep an eye out and let her know if I saw it. It was a mouse that had been raised from a young age and was very calm.
That afternoon, Junior disappeared from the house. Worried, I went outside to look for him, but no matter how much I called him, he didn't come, which was strange. Imagine my surprise when I walked a little further away and found Junior Cat playing with a white mouse; it was the neighbor's mouse.
