Walking Down Bolivar Street (Eng/Esp)

If there’s one thing that characterizes the streets of Cumaná, it’s that they honor some important figure in the country’s history—a man or woman who left their mark on history and, thanks to that past, allows us to live in the present. I was reflecting on this as I walked down Bolívar Street.

On this street stands the Antonio Patricio de Alcalá Hospital, the city’s main hospital; there are also several laboratories and pharmacies nearby to provide immediate care for emergencies that cannot be handled at that medical facility.

This street also provides access to the community of Caigüire, and from there you can see the imposing Pan de Azúcar hill, which borders the entire area. There are a few houses and huts, and not much vegetation.

As I walked, I could see various trees, shrubs, and flowering plants that beautify the area; you can always admire these gifts that nature gives us.

Walking down Bolívar Street is quite a challenge, since it starts at the Basilica of Santa Inés and ends at the Salvador Allende Outpatient Clinic. It’s quite a distance, but you can still enjoy it if you’re in the right frame of mind. I walked along in the shade, taking pictures of the plants and enjoying a pleasant stroll on a cool afternoon.

Si hay algo que caracteriza las calles de la ciudad de Cumaná es que rinden honor a alguna figura importante para el país, un hombre o mujer que dejó una huella en la historia y gracias a ese pasado podemos vivir el presente. Reflexionaba en esto cuando pasaba por la calle Bolívar.

En esta calle queda el hospital Antonio Patricio de Alcalá, el principal de la ciudad, también hay diversos laboratorios y farmacias cerca de ese lugar para la atención inmediata de emergencias que no se puedan cubrir en dicho reciento de salud.

Por esta calle también se tiene acceso a la comunidad de Caigüire y desde allí se puede apreciar el imponente cerro Pan de Azúcar, que limita con toda la zona. Se observan algunas casas y ranchos y poca vegetación.

Mientras caminaba podía observar diferentes árboles, arbustos y plantas florales que embellecen el lugar, siempre se pueden admirar esos regalos que nos da la naturaleza.

Recorrer la calle Bolívar a pie es todo un reto ya que inicia en la Basílica de Santa Inés y finaliza en el Ambulatorio Salvador Allende, es bastante la distancia, pero de igual manera se disfruta si la disposición es la mejor, me fui por la sombra fotografiando la flora y dando un agradable paseo en una fresca tarde.
