Keeping promises to children makes them understand the ways of God, that God doesn't do promise and fail. The bible have made it clearly to us that God never fails and he always does whatever he teaches us. When adults keep their word to children, they teach them trust, honesty, and the character of God in a practical way.
The Scriptures warn against making promises carelessly or failing to fulfill them.
Ecclesiastes 5:5, it says, “It is better not to vow than to make a vow and not fulfill it.”
This principle applies to our daily lives, including how we speak to children. When we promise something, we should do our best to keep it, because breaking promises can lead to disappointment and weaken trust.
Jesus also taught about having a truthful and consistent speech.
Matthew 5:37, He said, “Let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’”
This verse teaches is to always stand by our words. Children who sees their parents who keep promises, it enables the kids to be faithful and always straight forward in whatever they're doing.
