I always been very fit and physically active and never thought much about martial arts. And somehow always had this, now I know wrong understanding, "its just punching and kicking - what is there to learn".
Last year, some time in August started seeing several reports on TV about serial rapist in the area I lived, and I lived in La Jolla, which is really good and safe area, however still no guarantees things like that can be avoided (p.s. he was cought few weeks later in Texas).
I though to myself have to plan ahead, and might be very useful to know some tricks so I joined Boxing Club in San Diego.
Since I had no previous experience or even idea how its all done, I chose one-on-one training, which was best decision I made. There is way more just punch here and there!
Safety comes first! To know how to do it correctly, how to prepare, and hold wrists and how to punch and kick right way, how to avoid being punched; right punch and left punch way different!
I was very lousy and shaky puncher and kicker at first 🤣 but practise makes it perfect! now year later, love it! And training is amazing, great cardio, great for coordination and balance.
If you think something is "not for me" I would say think otherwise, maybe "I will try and will see".
This was my challenge at first and now something that is actually part of me. Approaching something you fear or don't feel very comfortable with is pretty exciting and will definitely change perspective!
Happy Sunday happy people
