In Russia there’s a similar practice — during elections or major national holidays, alcohol sales are temporarily restricted. I support this idea for many reasons.
Tourists might not love it, of course, but honestly it prevents a lot of trouble, injuries, and bad decisions. In the long run, it probably keeps more people safe and a bit healthier too. Alcohol isn’t medicine.
Yesterday we were at the hospital to remove my kid’s cast, and I noticed quite a few patients with injuries of different severity. Most of them were foreigners, and judging by how it looked, many had ended up there after a night of drinking and some reckless choices.
Maybe I sound strict about this topic — but that’s because I quit drinking myself about six months ago 🤣🤣
