Hi STEEMIT!
Today I want to know about Uganda's current president, Mr. Museveni. In the meantime, should we briefly explore the history of Uganda?
Uganda established itself as a Republic in 1962, after gaining independence from the British Empire. In the federation and tribal-based regional countries, the 1967 constitution was declared and the presidential system was introduced. During the military coup in 1971, dictator Idi Amin mobilized troops to rule Uganda, and was not hesitant to use weapons of mass destruction to take power. After eight years in power, he lost power after the 1979 war.

Mr Museveni, who seized power through military power as well, has been in power for 32 years since January 1986. In 2016, he succeeded in his fifth inauguration through a re-election, and is in the process of filling his term. In the re-election in 2016, he competed against his former primary physician and won. However, during the process, his main competitor was arrested four times, and his dominant areas were not able to receive election ballots until it was too late on election day. Also, he recently removed the presidential age limit of 75 by changing the Constitution to rule for more terms.
Does this help you understand Uganda’s history? What stood out to you?
