This one may or may not be a rumor. I heard it from a reliable source, which means it's a podcast that does not pay any attention to the mainstream media.
Listen, a reputation can take decades, half a century or a century to build, but it only takes a moment to destroy it.
That used to be the case when everything was word of mouth. All we had was a television set and a telephone, one where someone would have to pick up in order to speak with them.
I think the news media used to try to sway us in one direction or another, but they did value their reputation because they had to be paid for their commercials. If people quit watching, then that would not be possible.
I cannot tell you if a reputation can be burnt more quickly, the same, or more slowly with today's communication variety. As far as the lies go, CNN, 100-names-BC, ABC, BBC, and the like are all debunked within 15 minutes of their having published misinformation (aka lies).
I was banned from Twitter / X way back when Hillary was running against Trump. I was just pointing out the inconsistencies in making jokes about her and they banned me. I don't forget.
Many have gone back to X and they trust it, but I don't. At least twice a year we hear about part of that old algorithm still punishing certain opinions. I still have my third account, which I used during elections simply to read, but I stifled myself from making any comments or votes.
I'm not sure if I'll ever go back to X. I certainly won't go back to CNN or any of the others that I mentioned above. If someone plays a mainstream interview, I mute the person who works for CNN because they always have some kind of lie interwoven inside their question. Nothing they say is worth hearing, none of it is informative. And all of it should be considered deceptive unless proven otherwise.
If you ever have been swindled or scammed, you know what it feels like to know that you walked into a trap for the naive. Once bitten, twice shy. That sort of thing. Imagine if you had spent decades pushing and shilling for the scammer, saying how good he is at his job, how he's helped you and how much you like him.
Those people, for the rest of their life, will be shaking their heads and admitting to how they fell for it. Those who knew will look at them with pity, saying, "I remember all those years that you walked around with your head up your ass thinking that you knew better than all of us." it's not a cruel thing to say, and there will be compassion saying, "I tried so hard to tell you."
Snapped a picture of this guy on CNBC saying he just realized that all the things he believed, after he checked into them, were fabricated. Now he is talking about the decades that he had believed all lies. On today's internet, you can find the clip easily. I do not know his name, but he was on TV being interviewed.
The internet is forever. Everything that the mainstream media has said is on record and saved on a hundred thousand different hard drives worldwide. Back-pedaling will not be an option.
I don't care whether Paramount bought CNN or if Trump bought CNN. I would never go back. NBC, I mean MSNBC, I mean MSNOW has been changing their name over and over trying to get some of their ratings back but the name is burnt just like CNN. They have been skunk sprayed and there are no soap companies left. They will smell forever, and people don't like to be near those kinds of things.
That could be wrong though. There are a lot of people who have hope that CNN would come back from utter destruction. They were a behemoth, and behemoths are very difficult to kill. But if I'm wrong, then it only means that the world has become more gullible.
