I got to know about this amazing blockchain through a friend. I joined about a year ago and I must say it's been quite a ride ever since. I have learned from Hive which I also make use of in the outside world.
Below are some of the things Hive taught me;
"Hive has helped me improve in writing".
When I started, I find it difficult to write lengthy posts. That was why I started with making videos in the openmic community and as time went by I started writing in other communities as well. But most times, when I write, I never go beyond "1-minute read" and I would see that some communities are strict about their word count. So it made me put more effort into writing and now I have improved a bit with writing. The day I wrote a post that was up to 8 minutes read, I was almost rolling on the floor. I even had to reduce it because it was more than the word count needed in that community. I was glad I was able to learn and improve through Hive.
"There are good and not-so-good days"
I learned from Hive that "every day is not christmas" like the way the saying goes . Some weeks, when I submit posts, I would have lots of upvotes while some weeks I won't even have any and then I would feel bad thinking my post is not of good quality which is why it wasn't curated. It was discouraging then because at first, I was all about the money I would get from each post but as time went by, I began to learn to trust the process Instead of the financial gains.
"Beauty In connecting with others"
I got to learn through Hive the power of connecting with people through engaging their posts. I learned how important leaving a comment on people's posts was. Sometimes, some of the comments people leave on my post, encourage me to want to write more and also improve better. I got to make friends here and their input has gone a long way in helping me grow.
"Power of investment"
It didn't take long before I got to know about transferring HBD (Hive Backed Dollars) into savings to help yield interest. I learned from here how important it is to invest. I also learned of ways you can earn through delegating to some communities and I get rewarded with Hive weekly. Those little rewards no matter how small they might be also add more to my Hive as I believe that little drops of water make a mighty ocean.
"Hive has helped me to be patient"
Whenever I want to read a post, I am always too lazy to read lengthy posts, I always wonder what some people are writing that will get to 15 minutes read. Sometimes, I would skip the post because of how lengthy it was. When I started daily curation on #dreemport which enables you to read five posts by different people, I started learning to read lengthy posts and now I found out that I even enjoyed them more. If I was busy during the time I was curating, I would leave lengthy ones till when I am chanced and I would calm down and read without missing any comma or full stop.
I am still in the process of learning more about Hive and also passing on my knowledge to others who might need it.
