Often times people ask me, "What's new? What have you been doing?" And often times my mind goes blank. In that instant, I become aware of the American standards as an adult in this society and immediately feel remorse.
Remorse because my answer isn't going to satisfy my Grandpa or my Grandma or the older gentlemen who has worked his entire life to have a 401k plan and retirement around the age of 55. I would love to please these people by telling them I have a good, solid, steady job with benefits. And soon I'll be moving up the ladder to get paid more and obtain a favorably position.
But I also love telling them the opposite. I find satisfaction in "breaking the cycle" and not living by the American standards. It certainly has it's challenges but no matter, what I find myself always taken care of.
So I tell them I have been traveling a lot and playing music and going to events. And it's been really good and I don't plan on changing this lifestyle anytime soon. Because, for now I am young and willing and able to take a risk to live and rejoice in these days we have been given.
