A very peculiar Decorative String Instrument ornament, "El Cuatro", This four-stringed instrument with a very original sound, is the accompaniment of maracas, harp and bass. All are integrated to play the typical music of the plains of Colombia and Venezuela.
Today in arts and crafts and DIY things, I will teach you how you can easily make a realistic ornament of this harmonious and beautiful musical instrument.
We will only make an ornament, because to make a real one you would need specialized woods and pressure tools to be able to make the frame of the Cuatro, but this being an ornament will not stop being a beautiful decorative art that you can put. in your home, office or give it to your loved ones.
YOU NEED:
A piece of veneer, not too thick, I used a 4mm one.
An electric cutter, dremmer, or wood saw.
Tweezers, pliers.
A 30 cm piece of wire.
Wood glue (white glue)
Rope in your favorite color or synthetic plastic rope to make it more realistic.
PROCESS:
The first thing is to select the wood and mark the drawing to be chopped.
After making the inner and outer cuts, proceed to make the lines that separate each note or footprint known as frets on the fretboard.
Then comes making and shaping the head. With a very fine bit, make some holes to pass the steel filaments through which the strings of the Cuatro will be attached.
Then we proceed to mount the string bridge and insert the strings into the bridge and proceed to tighten them.
Once stretched, clean your string instrument well and present it where you like it the most, or simply give it to your loved ones and make a nice eye-catching DIY ornament.
