BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge! Keep Your Distance Ruleset
BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge
Description:
Units with melee attacks may not be used.
Use Phase, Void, Void Armor, and Magic Reflect to counter magic attacks. Use Headwinds and Return Fire to counter ranged attacks.
Units with 2 types of attack (which include melee) cannot be used.
In battles with the Keep Your Distance Ruleset, Monsters with Melee attack may not be used in battles, in other words, Monsters with Magic attack or Ranged attack can be used in battle. Frankly, I like battles with the Keep Your Distance Ruleset because Cards with Magic Attack or Ranged Attack in my deck are more powerful than those with Melee Attack, and I would like to point out that I can win more than 75% of such battles. In particular, I love to use Cards with Magic Attack in battles.
In battles with the Keep Your Distance Ruleset, my favorite units are the Dragon Unit, the Water Unit, and the Death Unit. Especially in battles over 45 mana, the Dragon Unit is my favourite. If I'm going to use Magic Attack Monsters I choose Dragon Unit + Water Unit, if I'm going to use Ranged Attack Monsters I choose Dragon Unit + Death Unit.
If I feel that the opposing player will use Magic Attack Monsters, I will never hesitate to use the Phase Ability, Void Ability, Void Armor Ability, and Magic Reflect Ability if I have the opportunity. Likewise, if I feel that the opposing player will use Ranged Attack Monsters, I will never hesitate to use the Headwinds Ability and the Return Fire Ability if I have the opportunity. These abilities can be really useful in battles with the Keep Your Distance Ruleset.
Descriptions of the Abilities I Mentioned Above
- Phase Ability : Magic attacks can miss this Monster (using the same hit/miss calculation as for Melee and Ranged attacks).
- Void Ability : Reduced damage from Magic attacks.
- Void Armor Ability : Magic attacks hit this Monster's armor before its Health.
- Magic Reflect Ability : When hit with Magic damage, does reduced Magic damage back to the attacker.
- Headwinds Ability : Reduces the Ranged attack of all enemy Monsters.
- Return Fire Ability : When hit with a Ranged attack, Monsters with Return Fire will return reduced damage back to their attacker.
Let's examine the Keep Your Distance Ruleset in a battle. I hope you will like it.
By the way, I didn't encounter any battles with the Keep Your Distance Ruleset this week, but luckily I just did, and I will share this battle below.

MY STRATEGY
According to the ruleset of the battle, I didn't have many options in this battle because I could only choose the Water Unit. The fact that I didn't have a card in the Water unit that could attack with Magic Attack or Ranged Attack and had the Tank Heal Ability was really a big shortcoming for my team. That's why I plan to add the level 3 Crustacean King and level 4 Tortisian Chief cards to my deck in the future.
Before starting the battle, when I reviewed the last 5 battles of the opposing player, I saw that the opposing player's cards were more powerful according to my deck, so I knew this battle would be quite tough for me. I actually had a chance to choose more powerful attacking monsters in this battle but I thought they wouldn't be enough to win this battle so I had to take some risks in this battle. According to the ruleset of the battle, all Monsters would have the Snipe Ability, which meant that all monsters in the backline would attack the second position.
For my strategy to work well, especially the Monster in the first position had to be destroyed and unfortunately I didn't have a card with the Tank Heal Ability suitable for this battle so I put Runemancer Kye with the Life Leech Ability in the first position. I put Venari Marksrat with the Martyr Ability in the second position so that Runemancer Kye can be more effective. Because when Venari Marksrat died, adjacent Monsters get +1 to all stats. In the third position I put Djinn Oshannus with Void Ability and Phase Ability, and I've also added Spirit Hoarder with Triage Ability to make it harder to destroy Djinn Oshannus. And since I think Spirit Hoarder would be more useful in the last position, I put it in the last position. I also added River Hellondale with the Resurrect Ability to the team, as I thought the Resurrect Ability would further strengthen my strategy. And finally, I added Nerissa Tridawn, who can attack targets powerfully and has 10 health.
Descriptions of the Abilities I Mentioned Above
- Tank Heal Ability : Restores a portion of the Monster in the first position's health each round.
- Life Leech Ability : Monster's health increases each time it damages an enemy Monster's health in proportion to the damage dealt.
- Martyr Ability : When this Monster dies, adjacent Monsters get +1 to all stats.
- Triage Ability : Heals the friendly back-line Monster that has taken the most damage.
- Resurrect Ability : When a friendly Monster dies it is brought back to life with 1 Health. This ability can only trigger once per battle.
- Phase Ability : Magic attacks can miss this Monster (using the same hit/miss calculation as for Melee and Ranged attacks).
- Void Ability : Reduced damage from Magic attacks.

BATTLE COMMENTS
Round 1
To be honest, the opposing team was more powerful than I expected, and the opposing player's strategy was pretty good, but I'm glad the opposing team didn't have any Monsters with the Triage Ability. Because this would be a disadvantage for the opposing team and a great advantage for my team.
In the first round, the opposing team's attacks were quite effective and they destroyed Venari Marksrat twice, which was obviously part of my strategy. And thanks to this, all stats of Runemancer Kye and Djinn Oshannus were increased by +1 twice. Even though my team attacked Wave Brood, they weren't able to destroy it in the first round, but its health was significantly reduced.
Round 2
In the second round, the opposing team attacked Djinn Oshannus very powerfully, dealing significant damage to it, but restoring some of its health would have made it harder to destroy it. My team, on the other hand, destroyed Wave Brood and significantly reduced Nerissa Tridawn's health. Frankly, it would be impossible for me to win this battle if there was a Monster with the Triage Ability on the opposing team.
Round 3
The opposing team was attacking so powerful that they easily destroyed Djinn Oshannus, which obviously wasn't good for my team, but on the other hand, my team destroyed Nerissa Tridawn. It was indeed a very combative battle.
Round 4
Both teams were very eager to win the battle and both teams were attacking with all their might. The survivability of Runemancer Kye on my team and the Triage Ability worked very well for my team. Runemancer Kye on the opposing team struggled hard to stay alive, but had only 1 health left at the end of the fourth round.
Round 5
In the fifth round, my team managed to destroy Runemancer Kye, but on the opposing team Nerissa had destroyed Tridawn, which was not good for my team. It was really hard to survive the powerful attacks of the opposing team.
Round 6
In the sixth round, the opposing team also destroyed River Hellondale and at the end of the round there were only 2 monsters left in my team while 3 monsters were still alive on the opposing team. Fortunately, Djinn Oshannus on the opposing team only had 1 health left.
Round 7
In the seventh round, the opposing team easily destroyed the Spirit Hoarder and now only Runemancer Kye remains on my team. And it was admirable that Runemancer Kye had 7 armor and 8 health at the end of the seventh round, which increased my hopes of winning the battle.
Round 8
In the eighth round, only two Monsters remained on the opposing team, they were also ranged attack monsters and had low health, so they had no chance of winning against Runemancer Kye.
Round 9
Round 10
The battle was really incredibly tough and competitive, and the battle lasted 10 rounds, clearly showing that both players had pretty good strategy. Even though the opposing team was more powerful, my strategy worked better so my team managed to win this battle, even though it was quite difficult. Honestly, it's been one of my most exciting and challenging battles in recent times and I'm happy to have won such a tough battle. In particular, the fact that I put Runemancer Kye in the first position and adding a Monster with the Triage Ability to the team helped me win this battle a lot. This battle clearly showed how useful the Triage Ability is in such battles. That's why I would never hesitate to use the Triage Ability in battles with Keep Your Distance Ruleset and Target Practice Ruleset. I recommend you to watch this magnificent and quite challenging battle from the Battle Link. I hope you will like it.
