About Me: Each one of us has a story to tell. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Ruelyn Mañus, a freshman college student majoring in psychology. I live in the northern part of Cebu, Philippines. I am a pure Filipino with no mixed blood. I was raised in a broken family where I never got the chance to see my biological father. I grew up with no difficulties, for there were people who supported me along the way, never making me feel like an outcast of the family. I lived with my grandma till I reached the age of 12. My grandma was my second mother, who took care of me since I was just an infant child. She was there beside me, supporting every decision and never lacking in loving me truly. Somehow, my grandma passed away in March 2023. She was someone dear to me. I am a consistent honor student since high school, My favorite subject would be math and english, I love math because it may have some complications yet I love looking for a way for it to be solved. I love English because besides the fact that it is a universal language which mostly people around the world speak- it helps me write this short intro biography, stories and so much more in day-to-day stuffs.
Hobbies & Passions : Since I am intrigued by things that make a person unique, I tried different things! Like arts and music, which somehow I indulge in as a person. Making art makes me express different kinds of emotions that I have difficulty putting into words, It allows me to connect with nature whom I truly adore and what gives me peace in times that I feel frustrated and devastated. I considered music as one of my therapies allowing me to feel each beat in my nerves with its harmonies putting me in a different mood whatever the music is trying to allocate. I acknowledge myself as a literature artist, I enjoy writing poetries and stories- especially my own experiences into words. If you wonder what kind of art I make, I usually do paintings and sketches, I am currently learning new varieties of art forms due to my curiosity. Nonetheless, music is my therapy, I am also a musician- a singer-songwriter, guitarist, and keyboard player. Currently, I am learning how to play the fiddle. I don't have a pleasing personality for you to be impressed at one glance, but there's more of me for you to discover. I am not just a girl living in a small town in the Philippines. Living a life as a normal teenage girl was hard, especially finding people whom you can vibe with, the same perspective and people who are open to welcome someone without judging by their physical appearance- although I am not an outcast on places I have been but wishing to have a friend or a person that you can rely on and have your back will make the world an easier place to live in.
I consider myself a gardener, at the moment I am planting sunflowers and green veggies! You might wonder why I am very into new adventures and skills, This is because I believe "Everyone has potential in everything, and the willingness will lead you to the road where you wanna go." so don't let anyone hinder your dreams, learnings, and especially your journey. I am really into floral things especially the meanings behind every flowers makes me so interested on them so much, My favorite flower will be sunflower and daisies- I love every flower but these flowers just mean a lot to me and there meaning give a perfect definition of the life I am currently living. Sunflower means faithfulness, which I have been serving god and believing that he will always have my back through the ups and downs, Daisies means purity, innocence, joy, cheerfulness and new beginnings. Life was never easy, and everyone of us had their own ups and downs- a roller coaster journey in life yet I wanted to help to those people who wanted to have someone by their side when life gets hard and when life gives you nothing but rocks. I also adore nature because it give me a therapeutic feeling to be around them- trees, sea, the sun, moon and so much other things that nature have.
My contribution: I believe that I can meet other people across the world by joining Hive. I would widen my understanding of their culture, diving into various aspects everyone accommodates to be well defined. I love meeting different kinds of people of various nationalities and cultures giving me insight and easy comprehension avoiding misinterpretations that could lead to conflicts. In addition, I would be happy to share my impressions about the Philippines and the town where I study psychology. Hoping that this information will be of help to everyone. Meeting new people would be a lot of help to me knowing I can have a better perspective on everyone's culture and day-to-day life's factors, but then again who am i to judge? I would rather choose to understand without fully knowing the story behind rather than judging someone from the biases things that only my mind knows. There's a lot of benefit we can get knowing through each others perspective of the world so I wanna share the life happening around me, the negative and positive situations and the learnings I get from this life situation.
I believe that as a psychology student, I can provide more. I would love to share about the things I have experienced and the community I am currently living.
Persons who introduced Hive to me: I have known Hive because my classmate, a friend of mine, introduced it to us, sharing her own experience and making me feel intrigued by what she had uttered. There were a lot of classmates she had told about Hive, and yes thanks to her I had a better opportunity to share things and meet new people across borders. Her name is Ishbel Dela Peña, she's @iamlovelykate here in Hive. She also introduced us to Ms.
@jeannmazing, who discussed and informed us about the rules and regulations, as well as the dos and don'ts we should consider. I've learned more about Hive by attending an orientation. I am very grateful to meet these two people and introduce Hive to me.
I would be an active participant here in Hive, I would love to meet and greet new people across nations. If you need someone to talk to, I am always free to listen to your rants. I am not a professional psychologist and somehow for now all I can do is listen but hopefully tie a bond with new people.
