Hello, Splinterlands warriors!
I initially thought the whole sticker business in Collector Binders was pretty simple. Pick a sticker, put it in the binder, and you're done. Turns out, Splinterlands has something much more interesting in mind.
Now comes news about the Splinterlands Sticker Shop, a new feature that will eventually allow the community to create and sell their own stickers. The plan is for the Sticker Shop to be located in the Artisan Quarter, with the initial phase involving creators from the community.
For me, this is interesting because players have mostly been in the position of consumers. We buy cards, packs, or various in-game items. This time, we're being given the opportunity to create something that becomes part of the Splinterlands world.
The term being used is quite interesting: Sticker Era.
And looking at the concept, I think the name is actually quite fitting.
For the initial phase, Influencers—players who actively create Splinterlands content on social media—as well as members of the Gold Tier Ambassador Program will be able to create stickers for free. Each creator can submit a maximum of five designs and choose whether their stickers are sold individually or as a pack. Both options cannot be selected at the same time.
The pricing is also fairly straightforward. Individual stickers will cost 200 DEC or Credits, while packs containing five stickers will cost 800 DEC or Credits.
What interests me most is the revenue split. 50% of the revenue goes to the DAO and 50% goes to the sticker creator.
That means community creativity is genuinely being given economic value. Of course, I wouldn't immediately call this a path to riches. Drawing a monster and then calculating how soon you can buy your second house would be getting a little ahead of ourselves. But at least there is tangible recognition for players' creations.
I’m already starting to imagine all kinds of stickers that might appear.
Maybe there will be stickers featuring favorite monsters. Memes that only longtime players understand. Characters with funny expressions. Or designs inspired by particular events within the community.
And when stickers like these are placed on a Collector Binder, they become more than mere decoration. They can become a statement of identity.
Cards show what we collect.
Card Notes tell the story of our experiences.
Meanwhile, stickers can show which aspects of the community we enjoy.
There are several rules creators need to keep in mind. Sticker designs should be approximately 200 x 200 pixels and use the WebP format. All designs must also comply with Splinterlands' community standards.
Splinterlands retains the right to approve, reject, modify, decline to publish, or remove stickers, even after they have previously been approved. In my opinion, this kind of curation is necessary to ensure that the Sticker Shop remains aligned with the world of Splinterlands.
What makes me even more interested is the plan to eventually open this opportunity to the entire community.
In the next phase, creators will be able to submit designs for a fee of 10,000 DEC or Credits, and that fee will include 100 stickers.
So eventually, it won't just be Influencers or Ambassadors who can participate. Ordinary players will also have the opportunity to leave their creative mark.
In my opinion, this is the real strength of the Sticker Shop.
It transforms the Collector Binder from simply being a card album into a space where players can showcase their identity and creativity.
If the Sticker Era really begins as planned in early September, I think we're going to see increasingly diverse binders. They won't just be filled with expensive cards, but also with stories and characters.
So start thinking about your ideas now. Remember the 200 x 200 px size, use WebP, and don't just make a sticker that looks visually appealing.
Create something that, when another player sees it, immediately makes them say:
"That's so Splinterlands."
Because in the end, a Collector Binder isn't just about what we own.
It's also about what we leave behind.
