Hello Splinterlands warriors,
The story Iām sharing in this post is actually simpleāabout small patience that eventually turned into big curiosity. It all started with regularly joining brawls with my guild. I didnāt always win big, sometimes I barely lost, but thatās where merits slowly piled up. Before I knew it, what started as small change eventually stacked up to around 11K merits.
And at that point, I didnāt overthink it. I went straight to the Guild Shop and exchanged them for 5 Gladius Cases. It felt like holding a bonus envelopeāstill unopened, but you can already imagine whatās inside š
I didnāt open them one by one. This time, I went straight for itāflip all. All at once, for the drama.
One by one, the cards appeared, showing their frontsā¦ and honestly, those first few seconds always make my heart race a bit. Then early in the opening, specifically the fourth card that flippedāboom! a gold card appeared.
This is one of those small moments that makes you smile to yourself. Not because you instantly become rich, but because that āhey, not badā feeling is addictive.
After that, more cards kept coming. I counted roughly 10 rare cards and 1 epic card in total. Quantity-wise, itās a result that feels pretty satisfyingāeven if it didnāt make me jump out of my chair.

After the excitement of opening packs settled, I checked my collection.
And yeahā¦ the result was still just adding more Gladiator cards I already had. None were enough yet to upgrade to the next level.
If I had to compare it, itās like saving coins. You canāt buy a motorcycle yet, but your wallet is starting to feel heavier.
But thatās actually the interesting part. Every card you get is like a small step toward something bigger. Maybe not todayābut definitely getting closer.
What really stands out isnāt the pack openingāitās the journey of collecting those merits:
But thatās where the āgameā truly is. Thereās thinking, strategy-building, and sometimes guessing your opponent.
In my opinion, the Gladius Case feature is one of the most interesting parts of Splinterlands.
Why?
Because itās not about who has the most DEC or the most expensive cardsāitās about who stays active and consistent in the guild.
Thereās a sense of togetherness there. Youāre not just playing soloāyouāre part of a team. And merits feel like a kind of āsalaryā from that teamwork.
If you think about it, this experience is pretty similar to real life.
We often want fast resultsāquick upgrades, big gains. But in reality, what keeps us going is consistent small progress.
And here, I learned one thing:
enjoy the journey, not just the result.
Overall, opening 5 Gladius Cases may not have resulted in a big upgrade yetābut it still gave its own kind of satisfaction.
My simple strategy:
Because in the end, itās not just about what cards you getā¦
but what story you carry from every pack you open.
