Greetings, Splinterlands warriors!
A new season has arrived once again. As usual, before thinking too far ahead about my next battles, I took some time to look back at the results from the previous season. This time, I managed to collect around 75K Glint.
That is a decent amount, but it also put me at a small crossroads: what should I use this Glint for?
Should I spend it on cards directly, or should I try my luck by opening chests?
After giving it some thought, I eventually chose the Major Chest. Why Major? In my opinion, its price is still reasonably within reach considering the amount of Glint I had. If I went for the Ultimate Chest, I felt that my Glint would not give me much room to work with. Rather than forcing it, I decided to play within my budget.
In the end, I exchanged my 75K Glint for 30 Major Chests.
Thirty chests were waiting.
And as usual, opening chests is easy. The difficult part is keeping your expectations from getting too high.
I opened the first chest.
It gave me 2 Rare cards and 2 Common cards, along with Merits and Potions. Nothing that made me jump out of my chair, but I could still smile. At least there was a Rare card. Not bad for adding to my collection and increasing my BCX.
Then I moved on to the next chest.
Now this one started to feel a little more interesting. I once again got 2 Rare cards, but this time there was also an Epic card from the Death element.
“Not bad!”
That was more or less my reaction.
Alongside those cards, I also received quite a bit of Energy. If Energy is something you currently need, then of course it is a useful reward. But in my case this time, Energy was not something I really needed.
So I could only say to myself, “Thank you, but maybe we don't really need each other right now.”
Then I continued opening the next chest.
Four Common cards appeared at the beginning.
One.
Two.
Three.
Four.
I started to feel a little disappointed.
Not because Common cards are useless. They are still useful for collecting BCX and increasing card levels. But after seeing Rare and Epic cards earlier, of course I was hoping for something a little more exciting.
I continued opening the chests.
And suddenly...
For some reason, my hand felt a little tense.
The next result appeared, and this time it genuinely made me pause for a moment.
Legendary.
And not just any Legendary.
The card was Sira from the Earth element.
What made it even more exciting was that Sira was a card I had never owned before.
Well, at that point, all the disappointment from seeing those four Common cards disappeared instantly.
That's the thing about opening chests in Splinterlands. We might complain when several chests feel rather ordinary, but one well-timed surprise can completely change the mood.
For me, that is the appeal of the chest system.
We are using Glint that we collected throughout an entire season. In a way, every chest carries a little story from the battles we have fought. There were victories, defeats, rating pushes, leaderboard climbs, and rewards collected little by little.
And then all of it is converted into a chance to open a chest.
The results are not always perfect. There are Common cards, Rare cards, Epic cards, Potions, Merits, and even Energy that we may not currently need.
But there is always a chance of getting a surprise.
And this time, that surprise was Sira.
If I think about it, I could have used my 75K Glint to purchase cards directly and gotten something more certain. But I chose Major Chests because I wanted to experience the process of opening them and the surprises that might come with it.
It turned out that the choice did not disappoint me.
Now the new season has already begun. My collection has gained one new Legendary card, and I have another reason to return to battle.
Sira is now part of my collection.
The only question left is: when will I bring her into the arena?
For now, I'll wrap up this opening session of 30 Major Chests.
The results may not have been perfect, but one new Legendary card was enough to put a smile on my face.
75K Glint turned into 30 chests. The 30 chests delivered all kinds of rewards. And one surprise gave me another reason to face the next season.
Let's battle again.
Who knows, maybe the Glint we collect today will bring an even bigger surprise in the next chest opening.
See you in the next battle, Splinterlands warriors!
