La primera fase del jefe final Sr. Big | The first phase of the final boss Mr. Big
The climax of a video game ends with an epic battle against what is possibly the most important character of all: the antagonist — the one who, in the first instance, tells you if the game will be good...
There is nothing more spectacular than facing an adversary who perfectly complements the protagonist and ends up representing a great challenge, but unfortunately, sometimes the developers do not exploit this concept enough; So much so that enemies end up being rare (and not in a good way). Today I am going to share with you some games where this type of final bosses are presented ...
El alíen dormilón | The sleepy alien
Darc Seed (Zombie Nation)
Darc Seed (Zombie Nation)
Originally known as «Abarenbou Tengu», «Zombie Nation» has an undeniably confusing story, where aliens, samurai, and the undead mingle. In the game you control the floating, reddish and disembodied head of the samurai Namakubi who, after a strange meteorite crashed in the United States, decides to travel to the American continent to end the kingdom of the alien Darc Seed — an entity that came to the planet to aboard the celestial object and using his powers, he seized nuclear weapons and turned the whole country into brain-eaters we know today.
Then the protagonist, in a side-scrolling adventure, will have to do everything possible to advance and destroy various monsters in the process; Equally rare as the final boss — An example may be the strange combination of Medusa and the Statue of Liberty.
After several mentions and descriptions of Darc Seed, the great expectations dissipate upon meeting him: the alien, literally lying down, attacks the player with energy spheres and projectiles. A rare and disappointing battle.
Jefe final inspirado en H.P. Lovecraft | Final boss inspired by H.P. Lovecraft
Reina Vortex (Ecco The Dolphin)
Queen Vortex (Ecco The Dolphin)
It's the first title of this trilogy (released in 1992 by Sega), where the player controls a bottlenose dolphin named Ecco who, like any cetacean, moves across the ocean. To the surprise of the expectant, the story takes a 360 degree turn when his aquatic friends are kidnapped by a strange and mysterious waterspout — and last but not least, the narrative also features time travel and sinister aliens called Vortexes.
In the final battle, Ecco must destroy Queen Vortex using his sonar beams and powerful blows. This huge enemy head, surrounded by a deep oceanic darkness, looks like something out of a book by H. P. Lovecraft — It's a truly rare final boss in a game in which you a priori suppose it will be a common swimming with dolphins.
La madre (The Binding of Isaac)
Mother (The Binding of Isaac)
«The Binding of Isaac» is an RPG action game inspired by its eponymous Biblical story. After a "superior voice" ordered his mother to murder her son to free him from sin, the protagonist panics and, after several laps around the room, finds a hatch under the carpet that leads him to the basement. There he meets hordes of deranged enemies, lost siblings, depictions of his own fears, and eventually his mother — This deranged creature deserves a position of sadism to fight his own parnent.
Mr. Smith (The Matrix: Path of Neo)
Mr. Smith (The Matrix: Path of Neo)
«The Matrix: Path of Neo» is a third-person shooter video game that had really disappointing graphic quality, unlike the first title. In this sequel, the plot is a relatively reliable mixtape from the Wachowski Sisters trilogy, with a few variations — one of which is the ending.
After Neo defeats Agent Smith, he is met with a BIG surprise - a giant robotic mega version of Smith (comprised of several clones that came together to create the colossal beast). The funny thing is that this final boss, like the original, makes use of the characteristic lenses of the acclaimed villain.
Mr. Big (Narc)

The object of the game is to arrest drug traffickers and give them a good lesson; all with the intention of arresting Mr. Big, the intellectual author of the entire network — To the surprise of the entire community, the appearance of this evil villain was not normal.
In the final minutes of the game, you find yourself in a dark room with a robotic head that shoots fiery rays from its eyes and shoots infinite tongues. Upon defeating the first phase of Mr. Big, the head explodes and a skull appears with the same powers. When you finally eliminate the second phase, the insects emerge from the eye sockets in a final attempt to stop you, but it fails because you are the protagonist and a great guy.
¡Checkmate triple-A games that care about the development of the characters, the harmony in their stories, and the aspirations that lead them to the decisions they make!
