I opened my facebook today after several days off in social media.
As I scrolled down my newsfeed I noticed that most of the post are pictures of individuals in black and white. I am startled. Asking myself what it is all about.
Then I posted on my timeline "what's the black and white thing means? Am I missing out something? I am way out of fad on social media!"
Someone commented "jomo"!
I replied, "What is "jomo?" She replied its the "joy of missing out."
I don't want to be persistent and ask again for further explanations.... so I googled it. Lol!
It says here
JOMO The enjoyment of time spent alone, rather than the feeling of compulsively needing to be with one's friends or know what they are doing. The opposite of "fear of missing out" (commonly abbreviated "FOMO").
Oh, so that's it.
But what is the connection of the black and white pictures? Ahaha
The connection was I've been missing out fad on social media because I am doing much of my "Me thing". The commenter implies that even I missed out something new on social media its nothing because I enjoyed being away from it for some time.
Back to "joy of missing out"-thing,
A lot of us are "into" social media. We've been busy also with our work and our business. Always don't want to missed out things. Doing things in a fast pace we say, that we, ourselves forget to have a time off or slow down in our life. So Some or most people nowadays feel so stressed and down.
Me, I feel exhausted sometimes I admit. So I take the time off for sometime. Sit on our hammock and relax. Walk in the park amd meditate.
I realized that the older I get, the more I prioritize rest. And, I do it UNAPOLOGETICALLY.
One of the unexpected blessings of 2020 for me is the chance to get more rest.
To slow down.
To be still.
Let’s lean into rest and renewal as much as we lean into hustling hard!
Lets enjoy a time to enjoy the joy of missing out!.
Thank you for your time!!
