Don't get me wrong. I love Oprah. Who doesn't? She hosted one of, if not, the most successful daytime talk shows in history. Her story is truly inspiring. A rags to riches and all the bad things someone has to deal with along the way kind of story.
You could say I was a little surprised when I woke up the day after the Golden Globes to hear that #Oprah2020 was trending and she had been anointed DNC Presidential candidate for 2020 all because of a speech. Speech aside I have always thought Oprah would consider a Presidential run at some point in time. She could easily win it. That doesn't mean she should. I personally would not vote for her because I am not a democrat.
The irony behind all of this is how for the past 2 years I have been told by liberals how Trump was the least qualified person to run for President. I would bring up his business successes, his managerial history, and any other life experience he had that qualified him and that was not good enough. To my left leaning friends he had never held public office so that disqualified him.
Enter Oprah Winfrey. Man the lefts attention span is short. She makes one speech in front of a bunch of sexual predator enablers and she is hoisted on high like a god and anointed the next POTUS? She has never held any public office. That won't matter to them. She has business success, but her cable network OWN has failed miserably. That won't matter to them. What's good for the goose is good for the gander when it comes to liberal politics. As long as it fits the narrative you roll with it. In a way I get it. She shared your political beliefs and you hate Donald Trump so you have no choice but to hop on board. I would argue that if you feel that way you are not being honest with yourself.
If I were a Democrat and wanted any shot at winning in 2020 I would be all over getting Oprah to run. She is the only person on earth I think could take down Trump if the economy continues to grow the way it has been. I would have to ask why you would want anyone in charge if this economic pace continues but that is a topic for another day. I think if she were to run it would be close but Trump would still win. I think her ignorance to world issues and the pressure of running the day to day campaign would ware on her and she would flounder. Not to mention the DNC would likely go all Super Delegate on her a la Bernie Sanders and rig it so Biden or Warrens won.
